Traditional 400 training will get you rolled, facts I’m at a school where my coach think sprinter are Toyota more miles the better, and if we can’t break 22 we will run a 46 with 10x200, 500s, there’s coaches out here ruining track and athlete careers, I’m at a points my body can’t handle mileage anymore but I’m now looking at studies and actually understanding track

Look at all the best quarter millers recently they are all elite at 200 and even 100 for some: Merritt, Van Niekerk, Steven Gardiner, Fred Kerley, Exception for me is Jeremy Wariner but he should have broke the WR and that would have been done with getting better starts and speed

@@whos_pluto I’ve never ran on a curved track so I tripped a lot and I tried a new race strategy because that meet didn’t count towards anything so I got a 1:01. The end of my 8th grade year my PR was 57 something, though.

I don't practice the 400m but I agree with you the most important is the velocity max, and the race strategy, the last 100m is in the head in the guts.

@@Venxlation Erin Brown is right, if you want to improve 100m, train 50m, it is still necessary to improve it for maximum speed.

If the lactic acidosis is serious you can jog for 10 minutes after the race to clear it as it enters the blood. It takes time to leave the fast-twitch fibers and jogging allows the slow-twitch fibers to consume it. Even a sprinter has about 20% slow twitch and more in the soleus.

Not 400m related but recently i ran 11+ in heavy clothes n not going max effort. Im doing track next year and im pretty confident in going sub 11 with training Most the Wisconsin HS times are 11+ and i know those runners are trained, im interested to see how close ill get to the 100 state record of 10.3 set over a decade ago

@dennisrobinson8008
@dennisrobinson8008 7 месяцев назад
Christian Coleman HS times: Sophmore 11.9 Jr 10.92 Sr 10.29 Large time drops are possible if you train for most of the year say 9-11 months. If you only train in season you won't have those huge time drops. Some are doing a 8 weeks speed training in the fall and in the spring every year for that incremental gain. Asafa Powell also came in as a high 11 and was 10.5 in two years then got with a good track club and got it to 10.2 and kept getting better. That's the other thing, many of the best runners are part of a track club in their region, that way they stay focused on getting better.

That’s really interesting about your lactic acid allergy. Do you happen to know the condition of your liver? My coach told me about how the liver kinda recycles lactic acid back into energy and I was wondering if it just couldn’t do that right and that’s why you have issues. Maybe it was damaged from the partying you mentioned? No idea, but I’m just curious

To be in the 45's your likely a low 10 seconds guy like 10.2 or 10.3, when you were 48 seconds you were likely a high 10 seconds guy or very low 11 seconds guy maybe 10.75 to 11.2. That's why i asked. Some guys can get faster at the 400m just by getting faster ( better top end speed running mechanics, more power and more strength and then the 400m is easier ). @@TheErinBrownTV
