This will be one of a few first fix electrics videos for this boat. In this video I create the wiring looms for all the sections of the boat and the tails for all the 12v internal ceiling lights #12v #wiring #marine
I have been with you from the beginning of your boat journey so it is almost impossible to add any more complimentary comments at this stage. I will buy you a coffee instead 😊☕☕
So many elements to think through, and keep in mind. Is there something already fluted/channeled/corrugated that could be used behind the stove I wonder. Good to see the mockup that Marlon created; you were right that the curve creates a welcoming entry.
foundry insulation blanket for your stove backing or maybe Rockwool. I have used both with a foundry cement mix on lime furnace feed heads and small metal foundries for smelting gold. I know you can buy it in small rolls for the blanket and 10-20 lbs buckets of foundry cement you mix yourself in any shape you need or want.
Hi James, great job so far. I would avoid putting lights directly above the hatches as they will be a magnet for all sorts of flying bugs inside and out. Look forward to seeing it take shape. Regards Brad.
You might be able to take a cardboard template to a stone yard and get them to cut the shape from an off cut of counter top marble or granite and just use the slab of stone as your plinth.
Arctic Blue should be ok although it can interact with some spray/insulation foams and is intended for light-duty use. A really good local marine electrician recommended I use H07 RNF as it's BS 7919 rather than Arctic Blue cables which conform to BS 6500 and intended for for light duty applications (temporary wiring etc). I'm sure it'll be absolutely fine but I'm now using H07 RNF in my boat because I'm fitting out now and have the chance to do it and I'd really recommend H07 RNF because it's a lot more appropriate for permanent wiring. As I say, I'm sure it'll be fine but just wanted to pass that on anyway.
Hi james. Ring the company you have installing the heater, tell them about the curved wall and someone there will probably be able to help you with a solution.
I’ve had a thorough inspection of robs and. It’s NOT curved - well it is but actually there are a dozen angled cuts and we’ll designed and made trim and tiling so the eye believes it’s curved !!
Can you cut the fireproof boards 3/4 the way through in lines with a one inch space between. This would then let you bend the shape required but with no gaps. Fluted is the best way to make a curve .
Not having a light switch in the second bedroom may be a problem. Might make sense for you and your youngest children, but when you sell it on, it will be a right pain for the next owner.
Oh sorry if I made that confusing, but yes there will be a switch in that room for the lights. The master switch will be in the galley so I can oversee things when it’s “lights out, sleep time” Hope you’re well 👍🏼
