I think the only regret GP has was giving back that Ferris commercial stand on leaf blower he had last fall. 😂

Do love the 430 and 450 plenty power without the reliability issues of 4mix although the BR600 is pretty solid. 🇬🇧🤝🇺🇲

New and new to a home with a lot of land. Need a backpack blower. You sold me on the 450 this is exactly the video I needed in all my research. Over 50+ this looks to be the right choice! Thx

I have owned a back power blower for over 20 years now and would never want to live without one. They make fall leaf pick-ups so much easier than using the old rake method. Another use I have found is in the winter when you get a few inches of the fluffy dry snow. The back-pack blower makes easy work of blowing the snow from your driveways and walkways not to mention clearing off your cars. I would not recommend using it to clear you mile long driveway in the forest but around our homes it certainly makes snow removal easier than with the old snow shovel not to mention easier on the old back!

Enjoyed the video. A couple of days ago I went to my local Stihl dealer to buy another chainsaw and another leaf blower but they didn't have any saws in stock and and no selection of blowers so I walked out and went down the road to the local Husqvarna dealer but no saws either. Ended up at the Echo dealer and bought a saw and a backpack blower. The backpack blower does perform immensely better than a hand held blower. 1st time purchasing an Echo product so I hope that they will last. BTW, you should pull the spark arrestor out of your chainsaw every so often for a cleaning. I just hold the spark arrestor with a pair of pliers and use a propane blow torch to burn the carbon off.

Thanks for the tip Paul. Yes, same up here - rarely any equipment in stock at my local dealers. Hoping that the economy and supply chain will get back to normal soon. Hope you enjoy the Echo!

Hi Gord. Personally, I would have made 2 passes up and down the driveway with my tractor and. Side-discharge mower. If I recall, your mower is a rear-discharge, so you probably don't have that option. Cheers.

I purchased a home 2 years ago, and had only ever had a handheld blower. The property is 0.75 acres, so it was a pain in the butt. Recently, a friend suggested the Stihl BR 600, but I just wasn't sure if I really needed that, since he is a landscaper and I am not. Today I stumbled upon your older video, and then started looking through your other videos and found this one. What a pleasant surprise! I really appreciate that you made a follow-up video after having the BR 450 for a few years. I wish more people would do this when reviewing products. Your thorough original video, paired with this one has definitely given me the push I needed to go for the BR-450. Thanks for doing these great videos!

I strap my 8hp blower into the bucket of my bx2380 and drive back and forth across the lawn to blow the leaves off. Could do the same there and be done just driving to the end of the driveway and back.

That backpack leaf blower is handy at the start of the day. I don’t do so well anymore but I manage what I need mine for anymore. They clean the yard and driveways really good. You did a great job on your driveway and explaining about the problem of wet packed leafs on each side of the driveway. You’re doing a great job up there. Stay safe and keep having a good time. I have always been happy with my Stihl blowers. My first was a BR400 when it was their biggest. A few years I bought the BR420 for a different property. Both of these still work great. I happened to be at the local Stihl dealer the day the rep was demonstrating the 850's. I have wanted that side start machine ever since. I looked up that Ferris last year and quickly decided my pockets were not deep enough.

I purchased the BR 600 last year and I have no regrets with my unit. The 700 and 800 are too heavy and use a bit more fuel. I feel The was a great choice for me. My dealer recommended using ethanol free fuel and I have not had an issue with the unit. Have a great week.

I also have a long driveway and use my Echo backpack blower. A tip for all of us. When blowing, walk down one side of road and blow other side off to the forest. Then reverse and blow other side into the forest. This way you are not blowing the same leaves over and over.

I bought the 600 after watching your other videos. The performance is similar but the 600 has 4 mix engine. Great blower not sure the 4 mix is a good advancement for homeowner or not but it was what they had in stock so that’s what I got. I don’t have a ton of leaves so going bigger would be overkill.

When I use to own a Rental company we use to rent these larger leaf blowers out to move powder snow from walkways and small parking areas. I use a leaf blower to clean snow off our vehicles, there is nothing faster.

I have a stihl also and opted for the 700 model it weighs about 23 pounds dry but after using it for a full day ( 5 -6 hours) it feels a lot heavier than that. It has the power you need to blow wet leaves from the yards. The trees here don't shed within the same time frame so it is a multiple-time job.

GP, I too have a long driveway and my blowing invlves pine needles and they cling to anything that is on the ground. I used to rake them up but that is a quite a lengthy task in itself. I do that raking chore 2 times a year or when I have the energy. That's primarily the driving force. If I have the energy, the raking begins. If it's entirely too much on me, I do the blowing routine. Enjoyed a full-watch. Thanks for your informative video and have a fine week. I thought about you while I was sipping on some Joe drinking from the nice mug you sent me. I've worn your nice cap several times. In the hot, triple-digit temps, I'd ditch the cap completely (just too hot). Be well my friend. 👍🏽🙂

Thanks for sharing GP! I still love your jacket. Please bring it back (I’ve already asked haha) I just bought the BR 800 C-E. I love it. Has a strapping system more like a hiking backpack. Helps with a fellers back. The starting mechanism on the hip is nice as well. Easy to start. Nice for when you need to move chairs or flower pots. And you don’t need to ask for a pull or to take it off to start. All leaf blowers are loud and so is this one. I’m a new homeowner trying to buy good equipment that is something as good as I’ll buy 10 years from now. Ill be satisfied with my mindset and purchase if it works that long. Have you or any viewers benefited from upselling yourself before?

Hey Seth. Some wise advice. I wish I had thought through many early purchases before making them in the early years. Good information as always GP. I owed a stihl stick blower before moving into the country and they're fine for small residential jobs but a backpack is a necessity with any larger property. I noticed you use the swirl patter of blowing when the leaves are wet. That pattern works great at moving the dry leaves and disturbing the wet stuff underneath so it breaks up and moves easily. I Couldn't recommend one more and love Stihl products. I only have a 1/4 mile driveway so can't imagine the "walk" you make on your's! Lol. Loyal Stihl guy for over 20 years now. Stihl running some of the original equipment as well, pun intended! Cheers!

I have a Ego Handheld electric that competes with and beats a lot of backpack blowers for velocity and CFM. It is a beast on the arm though compared to a backpack and does eat batteries but works good for the limited amount of blowing I do. At a mile long I would be looking for a used pto mounted unit.

Just bought the Stihl BR800C this year to add to my blowers. Love it and the side start. I had the same problem years ago with the spark arrester on my original backpack Stihl BR340. Just pull off the screen and hit it with a torch. Cleans it right up then never an issue again. Funny thing is my second Husqvarna 580BTS and third Echo BP8010T did not have the spark arrester problem. All great units but love the comfort and telescoping of the Stihl BR800 like your model has.

Gord, I understand your needs and purpose but if you're going to present a balanced review you might consider acknowledging that a 2-stroke leaf blower is a very serious air polluter, even in cottage country where noise pollution isn't the same concern. I was recently told that using a 2-stroke leaf blower for an hour produces the same levels of air pollution as driving your new Toyota truck from Ontario to Alaska. Even at the 50:1 oil ratio, I doubt that this is an exaggeration. To be clear, I own a blower and two Stihl gas chain saws. But I am starting to get it. Thanks for the video.

Good day and thanks M! Those are very good points - appreciate it. I think at some point battery driven tools will eventually provide a good effective solution, as some already are doing. I would love to have a battery vehicle but the prices are just way too high right now, and the time to charge, although getting better. I see that Ford is bringing out the first pickup totally battery powered ( F150 Lightning). I'd love to own one when pricing gets realistic. Thanks for sharing some good perspectives for us all. Cheers!

Wow, it's seems like yesterday you posted a video on the leaves starting to change colors. Time sure does fly. Next video will be you in a snow storm. 😁 Thanks for the info and the great video. 👍 Take care and all the best GP.
