I am very familiar with Tanner Mordecai as an OU alum and season ticket holder. I’ve seen him play in dozens of practices, spring games, scrimmages, and a couple games. He does not have an NFL arm, if he has to play at any time he will have to run the ball. The only time he was an effective passer was when there was 8 guys in the box and they already had 200+ yards on the ground and the defense is selling out. On a scale of 1 to 10 for college level talent his arm strength was a 6 or 7, accuracy was a 5, vision a 5, and mobility an 8. I saw Purdy in the same conference and playing against the same players and I’d say his arm strength was an 7, accuracy a 10, vision 10, and mobility a 7. All to say he’s a significant step down from Purdy. Maybe if you’re down to your 4th string QB and you need to win 1 game the only kind of 4th string QB that could do it would be a mobile QB because he won’t have the reps in practice to run the system well.
Speaking of First Class seats...my father and I were flying tourist class to Manila. Our names were called out over the loudspeaker in the SF Airport and we were asked go to the Korea Air check in. We had already checked in and I thought there was a problem. There was..they had overbooked the flight and asked us if we would like to fly First Class! It was great...champagne and strawberries and recliner seats at no extra charge!
My two favorite Niners dudes. I go back and forth with David’s opinions but that makes it great. I love both your content and love you together. Do post game analysis this season please. Guy is a superior listener. Such an underrated skill.
David doesnt have opinions. Hes 49ers PR, and focuses on efficiency and analytics rather than productivity; so he fails to understand why they keep falling short.
@@leftymo He pointed out all season last year that interior O Line and poor run D were Niners weaknesses. Guess what? Exact reason they lost the closest Super Bowl in history.
@@TobinPE We will have to agree to disagree. Lombardi generally speaks on behalf of the 49ers and not on behalf of the fans. He also said that Hargrave is better than Buckner and there's no metric on the planet where that's remotely true. Intellect questions authority. While I think Maiocco is for the children 49er fans, Lombardi is for adolescent 49er fans. The adults that have seen 5 SB's want a little more.
There are no scrums in AFL (Aussie Rules) that's Rugby Union or Rugby League...Mitch is so athletic though, he could probably lineup either way as a Lock (second row of the scrum), but bless your hearts for trying :)
Beyond irrelevant now but to the point of Read Options helping the interior run game, I was team fields over lance bc he ran a lot more to the outside than Lance did and I thought it fit better
I hate to say it, but I think there are going to be 2 major players that won’t be on the team after this season. I think it’s the last season for Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey. Both guys are essentially 30 year old running backs, and 49ers need to sign Aiyuk and Purdy. Paying a running back 15 to 20 million in the NFL is not smart, especially an aging RB. You don’t win Super Bowls paying running backs. In my opinion that’s why they drafted a receiver and running back in this years draft. They want to give them a year of experience before inserting them into the lineup and if they aren’t the guy they get another shot. With Elijah Mitchell and Isaac Guernado your RB room salary will only be like $4 million compared to $20 million this year. 49er fans are about to get a rude awakening, having this much talent on 1 roster is very rare due to the salary cap and it was only possible because of Purdy on a rookie contract. Not only a rookie contract but the cheapest rookie contract in the league as the last pick. It won’t be the same for guys like Caleb William’s and Chicago, he’s cheaper than a veteran but it will still end up being well into the millions. Purdy got paid in the thousands. The 49ers have 3 options, draft another rookie QB and play him and cut Purdy, cut 6 or 7 mid level players, or cut 2 high paid players that are entering the phase in their career where similar players decline quickly and start missing significant time. Option 3 is by far and away the best option. You already have another pro bowl level receiver, and RB’s just isn’t a position that historically speaking you need to pay to win or there’s much of a drop off in the next tier.
Ray Ray made a mistake in the SB. Maybe not the initial mistake but trying to grab it with your hands and not falling in it was a HUGE mistake. They teach that in pop warner
I will never understand this wanting to move off Elijah Mitchell talk I have been hearing…I’ll keep this as short as I can…nearly 1k yards in 11 games his rookie season, has NEVER fumbled, is the 3rd best blocking back on the team (behind Jus and CMC), and runs inside well (were we want to avoid CMC going so often. Yes, he has obviously had some injury issues the last 2 years, but always produces between an above average backup to low end starter level when healthy.
The reason is we have younger cheaper talent waiting in line. When you have an expensive roster you have to save where you can. Also he could provide another cheaper player by way of a draft pick even if it is a day three option.
@@rawereawera 1. hes kyles 2nd fav back. 2. kyle hates rookies. 3. mason cant block. 4. cmcs load will reduce. 5. nobody trades for a pending FA in off season, unless theyre desperate. im in the camp that its stupid to trade mitch.
I agree unless gurendo proves be really good then moving Eli seems silly he's proven runner, it's weird to me fans champion mason but why? the team clearly think eli is better player, mason has good average sure but he comes in at end of games when everyone else it's tired, he's clearly not doing something either in practice or classroom that makes us not trust him so until we have proven backup why would we ever move Eli crazy to me.
Well, they did pass more in the playoffs. David is wrong and he can’t be more wrong. There is no new philosophy. They passed so much in the playoffs because they were behind and every game early and by two scores they wanna run the ball 60% of the time there’s no philosophy change God this channel is getting terrible. 9:17
