Thank you David. I am super busy and I don’t get to research these players. I trust your evaluation of all the players on the 49ers. You’re my only news source for the team.
At first I kinda thought that might be a sign that he's not really giving his all - not playing tough right up to the legal limits. After all, to push it you need to cross the line at least a few times so you know where the line is. But after watching some of his highlights, you can't really say he's holding back. The guy is a hard-hitting missile.
Makes me wonder if the florida player Renardo Green is the free safety of the future. Green and Brown at safety and drop hufunga to lb. Huffunga and Warner would make a scary duo while Greenlaw recovers.
Jaiyir Brown has bright spots last year but coming off a rookie year and unproven. Hufanga is coming off a season ending injury and no guarantee he will be playing a all pro level production coming off injury
I thought 😢the exact same thing… he was a hitter … and they used him at nickel his last year with us …. He was the ball hawk of the secondary in my opinion…. Wrong move …. Plus HE WAS A HITTER
I like this pick for one reason no penalties, that means he is smart and knows how to play the position. I have always said the 49ers seem to pick better after 2nd round for some reason. They have had a lot of busts in the first round and they tend to reach a lot.
It’s a head scratcher why we only drafted 1 offensive lineman (who is probably going to play guard) with our first 6 picks. I’m confused myself especially since pass protection has been a huge problem all season and in the Super Bowl. I’m pro Kyle Shanahan and Lynch but I just don’t get it. Why SF didn’t prioritize finding an offensive tackle and offensive line in general with a minimum of 2 picks in the first half of the draft is so confusing.
Simple: the prospects they eyed in rounds 1 & 2 were off the board. Instead of reaching, which you would have complained about as well, they pivoted and picked other positions. They are filling holes, adding to special teams (which you could argue cost them the Superbowl), and putting depth in the roster that will force competition in training camp. The run on tackles in round 1 happened. I am glad they didn't do another Trey Lance hail Mary and trade away future 1st rounders to reach on a player just because of consensus hype.
Geppetto is right. On top of that we got to the big game and led in OT with this same o line. One stop and we win, one play on defense. That's a hard sell to Kyle, how do you convince him now that he needs to change how he sees the o line. Even Purdy is great against pressure statistically.
