Gip is underrated, and would be a steal if we can get him at a discount because of his dumb drug infraction. Perfect opportunity to pick up a starting-ready (after 6 weeks) above-average veteran to have as a back-up to Huf and Ji'Ayir. He knows our defense well. Can't think of a better ready-made, bargain, plug 'n play safety backup.
@@saulantunez42 - it was more like Ward was too expensive for us to resign when he became a free agent and when we did have Ward we needed him more at Nickel Back/CB
Gip is underrated. Pissed he was using enhancing drugs. But that does give the opportunity to pick him up cheap - if he's still interested in playing. We (49ers) should jump on it if he is. Practice squad for the first 6 weeks to have a solid, above average vet starter or backup for the remaining 13 weeks + post-season is a no-brainer. The guy frequently surprises me by being in the right place at the right time so often. And he's a solid tackler, having saved us from many would-be big plays by the opposition. Huf has frequently praised him for being a great mentor. I think of Gip as a quiet leader in the DB room.
He and Hufanga back there together was nice! But the DBs they drafted are really gonna be nice if the put everyone in the right spots they can be shutdown man😮😮. They definitely gotta get that o-line right also.
Hufanga and Brown will be the starters ... Gip would have been a back up plan, but it looks and sounds like Malik will be the #3 staring, plus we have Odum. THe safety room is just fine.
I hope Huf is ready by week 1, but we need a backup plan just in case he has a setback. Maybe Malik will have a decent grasp of the D by week 1, but that might be expecting a lot out of a rookie.
Can he maintain the same performance level at age 34 off the juice? In the NFL you have to be a repeat offender before they suspend , so it’s not the first time. If he want’s to come back the 49er’s should give him a shot and see if he can play at the same level clean.
Gibson must be excused for this since all tests are suspected of beginning false positive. TH is good to go and GO is so good we are set for a better run than last year!!! David, as usual you break your vacation off to get us the latest moves... Stanford grad and it shows... excellent update David.
Oh come on, this is not an ideal situation. He has to take P.E.D.s, why the hell would anyone want him? I can’t wait for the season to start… you’re stretching the stuff you talk about.
