In my couple years on 4chan, I can confirm this. Some of the worse people I've met are on 4chan, but some of the best people I've met are also on there. It is the centerpoint of the internet, where everyone comes together.

I heard from a Older Trans person about how something similar happen in the old forum and chatsboard many years ago, that older men who claim to be trans would go around and convince young people to transition. They got off on convincing young people to transition. So this not something rare or unique.
I've heard similar stories from detransitioners, specially how they would do everything to try to lovebomb or gaslight them away from any doubts they had throughout the transition process. The book gender queer tells a story of a girl that was abused as a child. I can't actually say what she had to go through in a youtube comment but it was horrible. She was "love bombed" into believing her problems was caused because she was actually a boy. As part of that experience she wrote gender queer with the intention to help normalize being trans but for me it it's someone trying to cope with their parents abusing them and instead of handling it in a healthy way someone took them down a dark path only to lead others down that same path

A couple years back I joined a Fallout New Vegas shit posting group. It was all pretty mundane stuff but a certain trend seemed to be picking up steam; being a New Vegas fan was increasingly associated with entering a pipeline that leads to 'sissyfication.' IE if you were a New Vegas fan, then you would inevitably become a femboy. Those types of memes eventually became the majority of posts in the group, with more and more people in the comments either encouraging them or outright claiming that they themselves had become femboys and that the memes were true. What's interesting to me is that any of these people think that by changing their sex they'll actually find a partner. You're not single because of your sex, you're single because of a variety of things, none of which that will change just because you change your sex. If you're unkempt, have bad hygiene, no job, arent fun to be around, dont put yourself in social situations and have a bad personality then you're not going to find a partner, man or woman.
I think one of the things at play here is they have no idea how to become what women want in a man, but as straight or bi men, they know what they want in a woman, and so it's easier to emulate their ideal woman instead.

That's true, but easier said than done sometimes. I went through a period in my life where I became agoraphobic but luckily my stepdad forced me to start going out looking for a job despite how bad my social anxiety was. And that was a terrible experience for me, but still better for me in the long run than if he had let my mom coddle me. I think modern Western culture these days coddles people too much and keeps us in a prolonged childhood that gets harder and harder to break out of as our vitality of youth slips away. Anyhow, despite that setting me a bit more towards the right path, I languished in low paying jobs and untreated depression still living with my mom for years before figuring myself out enough to escape my hometown and find a boyfriend who encouraged and helped be see doctors about my problems and support me when I can't support myself. If I was a guy and not a gal, though, who would have helped me like my bf did? I would just be hated by society more than pitied. Though pity is also terrible, at least sometimes people want better for you and that can lead to ways out. This is why incels are such a growing societal problem and see few avenues of escape from their loneliness and misery.
