Heading out for some real-world testing with the Photonis 4G High Gain tubes compared to a high-spec Echo tube and a similar Gen 3 tube! We've maintained consistent camera settings and lighting as best as possible for this outdoor test, and yes, we've turned off the video lights too.

It appears that the 4G+ has a lot more noise than even the ECHO, why is that?

More apparent noise because higher gain. But it has higher detection in extreme low light. In these cases, manual gain might be a user consideration.

@@coldharboursupply Oh, so the unit had auto-gain? Definitely you need manual-gain for these kind of tubes.

@@DjAlonDevil you need manual gain for any type of high gain tube. My Echo has 9988 (around 31k) gain and it's always perfect, but I do think that having the ability to tune it down a bit is always welcome.

@@Mr_Glenn Auto-gain is bad. I would never use it. I get why it's good for some users, but it leads to issues like in the video. It's like automatic settings on a camera. If you have auto-gain and an iris and you close it, the image is just going to be noisy as hell.

Looks pretty close to gen3. But what is the benefit to going with this over gen 3? Price? Better image in high light environments?

@@mc-sillix961there are tons of elbits and L3 tubes in Europe, I'm just not sure how they get here. Lots of omni contract tubes as well. They can be found relatively easily if you know where you need to look.

Depends if you want grey market tubes or tubes with support and warranty. There's lot of options out there. But 4G HG provides a product for those looking for performance without going through the secondary market.

How are you always demoing subpar spec’d tubes? I’m running 2600 FOM Echos and I’m just a dude lol.

The international Echos and the US spec Echos are different. We also want to make sure our customers who picked the hand-select tubes get the best of the bunch, so often we sacrifice our best tubes for our discerning customers.
