I'm going to be honest here, Jisoo is my favourite vocalist in BLACKPINK and I'm really glad that YG is finally letting her show us her talent but I think that this choice of song for her to sing wasn't the best one. Jisoo is a mezzo soprano (I'm a mezzo soprano too so I know what I'm going to say next, okay?okay!) So, female mezzo soprano vocals are kinda of hard to reach some high notes and if we wanna do it correctly we have to use our head voice instead of the chest voice (if you don't know what a chest voice and a head voice is, I'll explain really quick. The chest voice we normally use to sing lower notes, a good example is when you are talking, you're using your chest voice while during that, for head voice, we use it to reach high notes easily. Now, back to the main point) But using the head voice can be really hard sometimes, especially when we're singing a song like this, it needs a lot of oxygen and a lot of chest and head voice, it can be really confusing as well. So, for a voice like hers, she would have to sing this song mainly with her head voice which clearly appears on 2:59 - 3:03 At least she showed us how talented she is and YG is finally giving her what she deserves.
So for the rest of the song, you think she did not use her head voice for the high notes? I'm sorry to ask this but what does mezzo soprano mean on layman's term? :)
Exactly, her voice was beautiful at most part but the highnotes during choruses aside from the last one, she mostly was screaming. But nevertheless she has a great voice this just wasnt the best song that would show case it at all parts.
@@elleaiah_janna there are three types of voice, let's put this way, alto, mezzo soprano and soprano. The closer to soprano more acute I sing, the closer to alto more deep I sing. Basically people who are soprano are the ones who can sing higher. Mezzo soprano can sing higher than a person with alto's voice, but can't reach all the notes that a soprano can.
She is really like Sandara. I mean she isnt that "swaggy" or charismatic like what YG artists should be but her charm and sweetness makes her unique and lovable.
It's rare for a lead vocalist not being able to sing lol. She is a lead for reason but people sleep on her because she gets no lines. Jisoo is BP only LEAD vocalist. Jisoo always gives a rock star vibe

(EX: 2PM’s Jun-K, Girls’s Generations’ Taeyeon, etc.) The Main vocalist usually gets lots of singing lines and usually sings the chorus. Sometimes the Lead Vocalist sings the chorus, while the Main Vocalist does the ad-libs. This happens in BP but Jennie is the one who sings the chorus with Rose The Lead Vocalist is usually the member with the 2nd best singing technique. He/she usually sings before the Main Vocalist. Sometimes the Lead Vocalist sings the chorus, while the Main Vocalist does the ad-libs Jisoo does this but she does not do it as much as Jennie Which is really sad. omg. literally as a jisoo stan i’m so proud of her for writing the korean lyrics and she gave such a powerful and amazing performance. ppl say she has voice cracks and her voice is straining with the song but they’re not voice cracks if u listen well enough. while it seems to ppl as well that her voice is straining, it’s really not. it’s jus not usual for ppl to hear jisoo hit the higher notes as a queen with such a powerful voice bc she doesn’t get the opportunities to truly show her potential and worth bc of YG but this jus proves our amazing unnie is a queeeeen. she literally delivered that song so well. it sounded so good 😭😭❤️💕
Honestly, when they said that jisoo is going to sing clarity, i was like 'can she really sing that, that song was too high'. And get excited/nervous😅. But after i watched it, i suddenly felt proud because she did it amazingly and you can see that she really enjoyed it.... this is a big slap for all the haters who's saying that she's just a pretty face....i really enjoyed watching this thank you🤣

I really love her voice but I think that lately she has been forcing her voice too be loud and powerful even when singing high notes which makes them come out a bit flat at times. It definitely isn’t healthy too force high notes by putting pressure on your voice. Still she did a really great job singing this. I hope people can stop seeing her as only a visual because she is so much more than that. Ever since I first saw a blackpink mv she has been my bias and that’s not because of her visuals (which are of course amazing) but because of her voice. (Sorry for my bad English btw)
The song itself is difficult to sing if your voice and vocal cords aren't for ballads. The song itself is very straining The fact that Jisoo was able to sing it this way is amazing. She nails some parts (try listening to other versions of this covere) and it sounds good.

Ong Zi Yan that’s not technique. That’s just a voice crack bc she’s trying to hit a note straining too much her voice. It’s sad that they don’t teach Jisoo better techniques; she does not project well and does not has much of a vibrato. That being said, she has potential and her deep voice would suit more of a blues-jazz sound. Hopefully they will give her a solo that will show her talent

You know sometimes you just gotta venture out of your comfort zone and she did, most idols are scared of voice cracking and it’s okay, or scared of singing high notes when they have a lower voice. She singed her best and that’s all that matters, at the end it was her choice of song and she aced it. - Learn and do better on the next. Good Job Jisoo 🌠
