The 1939-40 New York World's Fair was a world's fair held at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York, United States. It was the second-most expensive American world's fair of all time, exceeded only by St. Louis's Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904. Many countries around the world participated in it, and over 44 million people attended its exhibits in two seasons.[2] It was the first exposition to be based on the future, with an opening slogan of "Dawn of a New Day", and it allowed all visitors to take a look at "the world of tomorrow".
When World War II began four months into the 1939 World's Fair, many exhibits were affected, especially those on display in the pavilions of countries under Axis occupation. After the close of the fair in 1940, many exhibits were demolished or removed, though some buildings were retained for the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair, held at the same site.

The odd "pattern" of the commands is probably a big "tell" of how it works, the circuit is just counting the number of things he said and the timing to figure out which canned action to play, the speach is probably a reel to reel tape player or something with one of the audio channels set with tones to control the movement of the robot's mouth. It's primitive and not practical, but extremely cool work for the time, from doubtlessly talented engineers who would likely geek out sing the wild stuff robots can do now with far less smoke and mirrors

That was preceded by her mom saying "Well he's almost human". Because she said it with sarcasm when she glanced at her husband my guess is that because the robot was stoic, stiff, non-emotional, cold, strong, analytical - typical and admired traits of men in the old days. Personality differences between male/female were frequently mentioned and stereotyped back then - even joked about and celebrated - but any mention of that now is considered politically incorrect.

I don't know about y'all, but I think we should bring back the World's Fair. Doesn't it just look like a really fun thing to go see for a day? Like I can see this being tied to the Olympics as a way to have an anchor point for dates and location. Sure, we get updates now on our phones about the latest this and that. But honestly I think it would be so much fun to go to an exhibit where you can interact with new technology and learn some new things. Like I can see it being more modernized and being geared towards entertainment, rather than just advertisement. Also it would give people something a bit to feel inspired by. One thing that we lack in our modern world is this overarching idea of development, and it's aided in stagnation. Plus I wouldn't mind if the event charged people because perhaps funds could go towards helping a global cause like malnutrition or water scarcity.

2021: this is sexist !! Me: _I love staying at the kitchen, cooking & doing dishes, and I’m not a “real woman”_

I am on a very progressive side of politics/society/whatever you want to call it and I promise you that those people are a near fabrication. I hate to assume, but just in case you do, I highly suggest that you stop watching Blaire White. If you were to take time and talk to one of us, you'd find that our opinion is actually this: you are entitled to live your life however you want, including ways that are seen as more "traditional". This applies to all people, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. The goal of progressive movements, no matter what anyone else tells you, is to remind you of those rights and to fight for them. Sincerely, A fellow trans woman

@@ReginaTrans_ actually, I was ALWAYS trans and realized how much living as a guy bothered me on a deep, almost primal level. I have only ever dated a guy, and that lasted for two weeks. Furthermore, although the concept of dating a girl as a girl was one of those appealing thoughts I tried denying before my I realized I was trans, it was by no means the only reason and still isn't. I don't watch blaire white because I don't feel comfortable associating with someone who essentially holds views with fundamental concepts that rival the legitimacy of her own existence. She and Calvin Garrah have bullied people mercilessly (more just calvin, who, with the help of his fan base, bullied someone to the point of attempting suicide, but blaire isn't innocent here either) and their views are inherently harmful to trans people. They are literal proof that trans people can be transphobic. That being said, I hope they can eventually get a chance to step back and re-evaluate their internalized transphobia and work through it, because I believe that not all hope is lost for them to become better people. TL;DR: false, false, and false.

@@droptherapy2085 i also don’t like Galvin , I have watched blaire but I don’t like her, she’s too pink for my taste. Even though she plays metal at her outros, I feel she’s very pink, and I don’t like that. Also blaire doesn’t like to stay at the kitchen like I do, she’s they type of woman to order Uber eats and use a washing machine, I take cooking and washing dishes seriously, you’re associating me with Blaire and Im very far from that Watch this 1930s video again with no feminism ideals and maybe you might understand my point, that place in kitchen was almost magical and I can bet you well all the girls at the time thought so, women has lost that, not all but it seems the majority has

@@ReginaTrans_ I was thinking more in terms of your rhetoric. Blaire white is more conservative leaning and as such would probably post something like that comment. I honestly had no idea that you didn't like her solely because she isn't strictly a fan of more traditional gender roles. I'll say it again: you can live however you want to live. Trying to persuade people to live the life that you specifically want to live is not cool.

Why are you undervaluing washing dishes and cooking? Do you think working in mining and construction was better? Damn, patriarchy was really bad for women compared with men, huh? Not to mention dying in wars and the innumerable shitty jobs men have been doing for the entire history of humanity. But yeah, poor women in their kitchens, they were so oppressed.
