Please enjoy this shorter form of video featuring this beautiful DC-3's time in Bermuda. As you'll see from the video their time here wasn't quite smooth sailing, but it made for some interesting planespotting!
In the end they successfully made it to Teterboro the day after their second diversion (November 16th, 2023).

Wow! I was born half a mile from the runway. Wonderful to watch the Grand Ole Lady on final. As a kid, I watched US Airforce DC3s frequently taking off and landing. Flew many different aircraft during my career, but never had the pleasure of flying this type.

I would like to hear the dates you saw DC3's flying on Bermuda. My limited research tells me it had to be late 50's early 60's.

Its very nice to see footage of the old girl from outside, I was the attending flight mechanic on this flight, no major problem other then wet mags from the heavy rain we had both nights before. We dont want any hiccups over 600 NM of open ocean. Cheers, The aircraft came off the line June 9th 1944.

It was absolutely my pleasure to catch you guys and this beautiful aircraft! Sorry about getting the aircraft date wrong, had a few contradicting sources and decided on the later date. By the way, did you guys spin around on alpha in order to face into the wind for the engine run ups, or was it other reasons?

Correct, we like to perform a run up into the wind as much as we can and the date I stated is from the data plate in the aircraft @@TheKindleySpotter and the second diversion was for a mag on the other engine.. they don't like island air I guess

Interesting that Bermuda has a supply of avgas available in 2023. My father (Bermudian Martin Smith) flew DC-3's in WWII. DC-3's still do regular freight runs from Florida to The Bahamas.

In actuality, Bermuda doesn't sell avgas. They brought enough fuel for both legs of the trip. Fuel was a bit of a worry for them due to the diversions and subsequent engine runs.
