What did the First Prussian Model Prison look like? Who was imprisoned there? What remains of it? What is a cemetery for civil servants? Why is there an allotment garden colony very close to the main station?
The Lehrter Strasse area was also characterized by judicial institutions. In addition to the Prussian cellular prison, there was also the military detention center with a courthouse.
Used after the war as a correctional facility for women, members of the Baader-Meinhof group and the RAF were incarcerated here in the 1970s. There were also spectacular escape operations.
There are some surprising places to discover on this tour.
The prison in Lehrter Straße, the Post Stadium with sports park, the railroad workers' houses, the SOS Embassy for Children, the history park Former Moabit Cell Prison, the civil servants' apartment buildings and the civil servants' cemetery in the middle of the allotment garden colony.
As always, I'm eager to hear comments, welcome feedback and a subscription to my channel.

I owe much of the information in this video to the website of the association "Für eine Billige Prachtstraße - Lehrter Straße e. V.": lehrter-strasse-berlin.net/
You can learn a lot about the history of the street, the association itself, the Betroffenenrat and numerous initiatives.
