Have to say - excellent video, brought back a lot of memories. From cycling from Whalley up the road you drove - I didnt turn right I kept on to the arterial road and into Little Harwood. 10/10.
Great to see my old stomping grounds. I was born in Blackburn, went to school in Whalley and spent most of my teenage years in or around the Ribble valley. These are the roads that I learnt to drive on in the 1980's, so a fascinating trip back for me. The bit from the bottom of Shear Brow to Eanam is unfamiliar, but the rest has barely changed. Thanks for this video.
Ten years makes a big difference. I lived in Blackburn and learned to drive in the '70s, often going to my uncle's farm near Clitheroe. Although a lot of this is familiar, in my time the only motorway was the M6, the Clitheroe bypass hadn't been built, and there were no dual carriageways in the town centre. So actually as lot of this feels very unfamiliar. I still miss the place.
I’m from Blackburn and to be honest the standard of driving in my town is appalling. I’m an ex driving instructor as well. The amount of accidents on Barbara Castle way has caused cameras to be placed at all junctions controlled by traffic lights. The road that goes from eanam to burnley rd has the highest occasions of fines dispensed for traffic offences outside London. That is a fact. The post area code BB1 is one of the highest in the country when it comes to insurance quotes. That is also a fact.
