The Seto Ōhashi Line(Great Seto Bridge Line) is a bus route operated by Shimotsui Dentetsu (Shimoden Bus) connecting Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, and Yoshima, Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, via the Seto-Chuo Expressway.
This bus line is the only public transportation to and from the three inhabited islands of Iwakuro Island, Hitsuishi Island and Yoshima Island to the Okayama Prefecture side. Especially, this bus route is a valuable means of transportation to reach both islands, because the passage of general vehicles is prohibited on the islands except for islanders and their officials, local buses, emergency vehicles, and mail delivery vehicles. However, from the beginning of its operation, the number of passengers did not increase, and in the 2010s, there were some buses with no passengers at all, which were financially supported by the government, Okayama and Kagawa prefectures, and Sakaide City.
Due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic in 2020, the Shimoden bus service will be reduced after October 1, 2020 and will cease operation at the end of March 2021.
