I stayed in an Partial Ocean View Villa at the Umana Bali, a member of Hilton's LXR Luxury Resort Collection for one night before my trip back home.
Overall, I had a good stay. However, numerous issues with bugs/insects being in the villa and the response from the hotel deter me from recommending this hotel. Reflecting on what I said in the video, I do think it is reasonable to expect a hotel of this caliber to ensure there are no bugs in the room upon arrival (much less in/around food). When this does happen, I expect a 5 star resort like this to have some sort of service recovery (I received none at all). There wasn't even any follow up phone call or check-in from any staff at the hotel.
While most bugs aren't dangerous, I do everything I can to avoid being bit by mosquitoes in Southeast Asia as I have gotten dengue fever before (a potentially fatal disease spread through mosquito bites) so seeing mosquitoes in the as I arrive in the room is unacceptable.
It is a beautiful property though, and if you can get past the bug issues the resort itself is a nice, private place to relax in.
