@@powerfulstrong5673 Man what’s wrong with you and high-rises? Like I said before look it up and you will see that Dallas has a lot of high-rises. You must be blind otherwise you would see that Dallas is one of the top cities in the country when it comes to high-rises. Don’t take my word for it just look it up in Google. It’s easy to do research these days. I’ll only take a little time and effort. You must be doing this on purpose because if you really are paying attention you would see that Dallas has more high-rises than just about any other city in the U.S other than cities like New York and LA. The question here is why am I wasting my time trying to convince you of something that is so obvious? It is a waste of time. Never mind don’t listen to me keep thinking what you will.
There is a skyscraper in downtown Dallas which was designed by the famous Chinese American architect I. M. Pei. And the Dallas city hall was also designed by I. M. Pei.
Almost 2 hours of Dallas - what a treat! And what a surprise at the final part of the video with night filming - great idea. In the night it looks more lively with the lights, colors and people out. Trully beautiful in the night! Thanks! :)
There was still parts of downtown he didn't cover...the Convention Center, Deep Ellum, the downtown underground tunnels, the other side to the US Reserves (Money) ,etc. It's a full day trip with just downtown. But, yes a beautiful job indeed!
I love your movies! I work in a company where we can turn on the TV. I turn on your channel very often. Now I am watching this walk and I think that you have such beautiful weather and in Poland it is raining, windy and sad outside the window. Thank you for being able to be in all these beautiful places for a while. Be healthy and take care of yourself. Greetings from Poland. Angelika
I like when people visited NY or LA and say - i visited and saw USA:) and even can't understand how rich is the country, how many cities are there(each of them is different) and despite cities USA has so many national parks and forests.
@@powerfulstrong5673 Really? If you think there aren’t a lot of high-rises in Dallas it’s because you’re not looking. Look it up in google and you will see that Dallas is near the top of cities in the country in the number of high-rises. In this video you only got to see a small area of downtown. There are a lot of high-rises not shown here. Uptown is not shown at all on the north of downtown. Uptown is the newest part of central Dallas.
I might wanna walk here I've been living in Dallas For 11 Years Very Close To Arlington And Dallas I've walked in Town town in Elm Street Downtown Dallas is so big and amazing I love my City
Visited two years ago and as a European I was shocked at how few people are walking around, where are the crowds? How do the stores etc survive if there are no people walking around? Beautifully clean city with lots to see.
Most American cities lack density, spread out, aren't very urban, and are car dependent. This is only downtown Dallas which only has about 20 thousand people living in it, the rest of greater Dallas is 383.4 sq mi(993 sq km) of low density suburbs. The majority of Americans also live in suburbs which are unwalkable.
@@powerfulstrong5673 not very likely, it’s just not a dense city, everything is already built far to spread out and is sprawled way too much. This is a major reason why American cities aren’t walkable.
@@blackhole9961 I think most American cities are not walkable is because zoning laws in American cities strictly separate the commercial zones and residential zones, and most American cities were planned as car depending development.
The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has a Lotta nice and beautiful districts including Las Colinas. I think the guy that made this video would walk himself to death if he had to do all the beautiful areas in the metroplex.😂
As in other parts of the world the COVID-19 pandemic it is keeping people indoors but it’s still nice to see some people venturing in to the streets of downtown Dallas.
I just went to Dallas for the first time. I thought the downtown area looked boring. No people. I need to see people everywhere to feel alive. The reason why there isn’t much going on is that they out all the fun in Arlington. That’s where the ranger, the cowboys stadium are, the six flags and water park.
Beautiful Dallas. Lived there for 20 years, sure miss it. Just amazing that the Warren Park is built over a freeway. I think the best skyscraper in all of Texas is the Fountain Place and it's fountains. AMLI has respectfully incorporated some of it's elements in their new apartment building. Thanks for the posting.
Why do people always feel they can't comment on Dallas without taking a shot at Houston? True, in the past, Dallas has led the state in urban development, but Houston has caught up it. Add to that there are 3 sports stadiums downtown to Dallas's 1. All the development in East downtown Houston: Avenidas, new condos, etc. And Klyde Warren park doesn't hold a candle to Discovery Green.
@@DS-br1wn Why Houston people always talking about Stadiums downtown? lol Having 3 stadiums downtown doesnt really mean nothing because NOBODY is at thos stadiums everyday. It means nothing. Dallas downtown, Uptown and Deep Ellum is WAY more Urban than Houston. Nothing in Houston compares to Deep Ellum and I mean NOTHING
Not many people realize that less than 150 years ago Dallas consisted of a few log cabins and at the most a couple hundred people living in the area. If you compare that to most north eastern cities or European cities you realize that Dallas is a baby compared to the much older cities in Europe, Asia and the northern U.S. Give us another fifty years and let’s see what Dallas looks like. Not saying that Dallas is not a great city today because obviously it is but the future it’s really wide-open for Dallas.
@@PEN-N-PAL Are you saying that New York, Boston, Philadelphia and the other big northeastern cities of the United States are less than 150 years old? Those were the American cities I was talking about,
Dallas will never be a world class city. There's no waterfront and it's no access to a significant body of water. Public transportation is lacking. It's generally not walkable. For it to sustain future growth, they will need to build more "lakes" or reservoirs.
what is that blue skyscraper on the left supposed to be? I don't think it ever got built. LOL I understand that right now during covid, it's hard to get into a lot of stuff, but NOTHING about the Sculpture Garden? or the Asian Art Center? or the Meyerson? or the Opera House? or Thanksgiving Square? or Guadalupe Cathedral? or the Farmer's Market? One Arts Plaza? My three favorite views of downtown at night (these are not walking trips). FIRST: 1 - take Central Expy (I45) south. 2 - take exit to Woodall Rodgers. 3 - go up the ramp and veer right. 4 - enjoy the view of downtown on the left and Uptown on the right. SECOND: 5 - (continuing from previous step) take the Pearl St. exit. 6 - right on Pearl. 7 - start trying to find some on street parking (if you turn left on Thomas, there's a garage immediately to the left, but there's a charge, but if you eat at one of the restaurant, they validate). 8 - Anyway, walk to the corner of Pearl and McKinney, look west and view the skyscrapers and residential towers. THIRD: Sylvan Ave Bridge. This is especially good on nights with fireworks, although get there early. It doesn't totally shut down, so you can only park in the median or along the shoulders.
How in the world did you not go to my building, Fountain Place? You showed it from a distance, but you missed a major attraction. Our fountains are amazing.
Wow love the red brick. Had no idea this look would be in Texas. Beautiful cityscape!! 🌆❤ Highly considering Dallas for my next move looking for my home base. :)
You could’ve been one of the first to show the new AT&T Discovery District but for some reason you skipped it and kept walking around the outside area as if avoiding it on purpose. Otherwise you did a good job of showing some parts of downtown Dallas.
Wind Walk Travel Videos ʬ : Didn’t mean to sound critical of the work you’re doing because otherwise you’re doing an excellent job and we appreciate it here in Dallas.
That monument in the JFK Memorial Plaza omg what an eye sore and so disgracefully unkempt. Dealey Plaza on the other hand looks like it might be a pleasant place to be for some quiet reflection. Good to see some pedestrians out and about giving the place a bit of energy but overall the downtown area, apart from traffic, seems pretty deserted, which is quite strange for a city of that size. Enjoyed the viewing nonetheless. 👍
Sadly, Dallas (or Texas in general) didn't know (still doesn't) how to preserve things unlike world class urban cities like Chicago, NYC, SF, etc. Look at how the downtown Dallas looked like in the 30s-40s. It looks just as vibrant as NYC. I'm sure it's getting better as they're trying to revive their downtown, but all the old buildings with cool architecture are gone already and it'll look like a giant glass jungle without charm if anything.
@@joonkwon9303 it was vibrant because it was before the rise of the suburbs and the highways connecting the cities and suburbs in the 1950s. Downtown is really only a small fraction of what greater Dallas is is downtowns population is 20 thousand people compared to the other 1.3 million people that live in the sprawled out suburbs and then the other 6 million people that also live in the cities/ suburbs of Dallas like Plano Frisco Richardson etc.
