Yamashita Park is a scenic park located in Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Toru Naraoka, who was a deputy mayor of Yokohama City, and others as a reconstruction project for the Great Kanto Earthquake reclaimed the sea using debris from the city and opened it on March 15, 1930 (Showa 5). The area is 7.4ha.
When the park opened, the current submerged flower bed was used as a mooring ground, and the remnants of that can be seen in the small bridge next to Hikawamaru.
For 40 years after the park opened, a plan was submitted to reclaim the sea surface in front of the park as a wharf, but this was not realized, and Yamashita Wharf was later constructed on the adjacent land to the east. Currently, there is a plan to construct a tunnel-structured port road under the same sea level.
