Listen to the clamor of the engine, the chug of the wheels and the call of the whistle as you travel aboard the Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad. Offering convenient stops at Main Street, U.S.A. and Fantasyland, the train is the perfect way to preview the magic-and take in the picturesque scenery-of Hong Kong Disneyland Park.
The Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad is also a handy way to get around quickly and easily. And because the trains are scheduled to arrive at each station every 5 to 15 minutes throughout the day, you never have to worry about waiting a long time to ride one.
Romance of the Rails
The Disneyland Railroad sports 3 different locomotives. The engines are modeled on the original steam engines that were built for Disneyland Park in California in 1955, which were based on the locomotives that rode the rails of America in the late 1800s. The locomotives are:
Walter E. Disney, named after Walt Disney
Roy O. Disney, named after Walt’s brother
Frank G. Wells, named after the president and chief operating officer of The Walt Disney Company from 1984-1994
Being pulled by each locomotive is a train of 5 lovingly detailed passenger cars. Each coach includes benches that face the park, so you can easily enjoy the spectacular views of Adventureland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Main Street, U.S.A. There are 2 trains in total-the “Walt” train and the “Disney” train.
Walt’s Lifelong Passion
A noted train enthusiast, Walt Disney built his very first railroad in his backyard. The Carolwood Pacific Railroad, a 1/8-scale train, debuted in 1950 and featured a custom-built, steam-powered locomotive that encircled his property.
Delighted with his miniature backyard railroad, Walt decided to share his love of trains with the whole world. The result was the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad, known today as the Disneyland Railroad-a favorite of Guests in California since opening in 1955. Today, railroads exist at every Disneyland-style park around the globe, including Hong Kong Disneyland Park.
