As for beauty, I would say Florida. As for climate, California. California has a more Mediterranean climate, it's almost perfect, where as Florida is hotter and could be draining for some.

Roberto Enduro; For swimming Florida, clear crystal water and warm, land is flat. As beauty the coast of CA is breathtaking, surrounded by mountains, the water is cold and waves. A drive by Big Sur is unforgettable, beauty as it best, it can not be compare.

Lived there for years. Hated the site of the oil rigs sitting just offshore in HB. Gas prices were thru the roof too so it must not be helping anything.
