i just saw this recently. it's one of the most amazing, and beautiful things i've ever witnessed. it's something that you really need to see in person to truly appreciate.
I remember going to Disneyland every year when I was little and this was my favorite parade. Sad I couldn't afford to go to see this version but seeing it on youtube is enough to bring tears to my eyes! I will always love this parade! ❤
The first time I saw this parade was on my first visit when I was a kid and it's something that has stuck itself to my mind for years. Recently made a trip to Disneyland last month for my birthday after nearly a decade of not being there and got misty eyed when the parade started. Happy that I got to celebrate my birthday at Disneyland and celebrate the 50th anniversary of my favorite parade in the same day! I even bought the Elliot popcorn bucket and Turtle cup for the occasion!
This is still the best Disneyland parade of them all. Everybody, everybody wanted to come see this parade. They tried to retire this parade for good, and even sold the light bulbs, but everybody protested. Now if public pressure could just work with rebuilding the Peoplemover. Why not just join DCA with Magic Kingdom to make me oark again. They could put in a paid-area access bridge above the ticket plaza/downtown access avenue to connect the parks. Then have the Peoplemover go through both parks, with on-off stations along the way. That really would be Walt’s dream of having the Peoplemover work as transportation as well as attraction.
IMO, I feel like the new finale float was not utilized enough. I feel like the one thing that would make it even better is if they had a character cavalcade surrounding it. It would just bring more life to the float. Like they had with the patriotic dancers in the THA float, they should have all the characters they can find and light up to walk with the finale float. Just a thought.
I thought about that, but it would be awkward to have walking character with dolls of them behind them. I feel like doing that would also disrupt the view of the float too, there’s a lot to look at!
It would be a logistical nightmare just like with the celebrate america float as The parade route is not that wide in some places and anyone along either side of that float would need to come to a stop for safety particularly at the area where the Matterhorn is located as that float just barely fits down that part
My thoughts exactly! I wonder what they did to the older assets of the “To Honor America” float… they couldn’t have been scrapped… right? I know they usually archive the things they don’t use.
They put them into the incinerator. Disney doesn't want the costumes getting into the wrong hands or ending up on Ebay or whatever. They would rather just destroy them.
The is NOT the original Baroque Hoedown or whole soundtrack this is the Tokyo version. I guess management thought fans would only be happy to have it back not caring about experts like me knowing the difference.
I think WDW, DLP and SDL should get a night parade soon. We have this in DL, Dreamlights in TDL and Paint The Night in HKDL (will reopen later this year).
I am only seeing this online- but I can tell they sent it. They decided to build off a masterpiece rather than butcher it. True to the original but plussed.
It looks like the parade has some issues that night. The text on the drum didn't light up. Elliot's neck is stuck and small word lights are out of sync. They also speed up the parade at the end. What's going on???
I remember in 2019 I saw it and the To Honor America unit was missing but they accidentally played its music over the park speakers during the Pinocchio and Elliot units lol
I didn’t even notice the drum having issues until I edited this video. Funny how the Peter Pan float worked normally as it passed me though, that Disney magic at work! 😁 The parade always speeds up around the end too, nothing abnormal! 😅
Not to mention, there is little animation in the light chasers these days. They either have very little light chasers or some have none at all. They really scaled back on the budget of this parade.
Sometimes there’s an applause, sometimes there isn’t. I watched both shows last night, nothing for both. There was some applause last time I watched it though.
Because this park is regional than a destination park so the guests have seen the parade already. Guests at Disneyland are not like guest at Disney world who would clap for everything
