Nice Video.... your Video is in Barrio Baretto....which as you mentioned is actually part of Olongapo City....which ends at the bridge and then becomes part of Subic City..... Barrio Baretto during its heyday had more than 100 bars in that small area.... now I think there are about 20 or so..... I remember counting the bars on Magsaysay in Olongapo in 1975 and there were over 120 many of them quite big with bands....I will be back in about a month and plan to spend a few days in Baretto.....thank you....
Yeah, 15 years ago, my friend and I went there for bar hopping. And we have enjoyed our stay and it became one of my most unforgetable experience. I vividly remembered that this place has plenty of bars and nightclubs. But now only a few left. 4 days ago when I took this video it seems that If I'm not mistaken there were at least 10 bars left or maybe around 20 I guess. But still the place is bustling with local businesses and big beach resorts. Oh by the way thank you for watching my video and sharing your experience here. I really appreciate it.
I was here in 1979 in the USMC for just a week and I loved it. I was only 17 yo and hooked up with a girl my age for the whole week. Ever since, I've wanted to go back but I know I'd just be chasing down my youth and not find it. So I settle for these videos, thanks for posting them.
Thank you for sharing your fondest memory here in barrio Barreto Olongapo. You could"ve stayed for good if you married a Filipina just like the orher expats who lived here by now. Most expat pensioners find it cheaper to stay in this part of the Philippines. The dollar exchange to peso will definitely give you an extra purchasing power.
I went in 2017 and 2018 then Covid hit and my business failed. After these years I’m planning a trip back in September. Life’s too short. Got to follow my dreams. And this is a dream place.
I am just back from my vacation in subic baretto. I stayed at the coffee shop rooftop hotel. Picture in your video. Very clean hotel nice restaurant. Best hotel for price. Great staff.
I was just there 5.11.23 to 5/22/23. stayed at By The Sea Hotel across the street. Visited IDM(IT DOESNT MATTER BAR) Coffee house across from Arizona. Breakfast at By The Sea was great. Nice beach behind it. Got bitten by the Red Ants by the tree so beware. Thank for the video.
Lol, you got me with those IDM 😁. Now tell us the name of the bar so that everybody will be aware of that red ants by the tree😅. By the way, thank you so much for sharing your experience at the barrio Barreto with us😊
@@wandernonoy The RED ANTS are by the tree behind By The Sea Hotel. If you look really close. You can see them. They are an ARMY of them just hanging around the base of the tree and they bite hard or they must just love dark meat LOL
Fun Fact..... where the church is located there use to be a bar there called "Moons Bar" and that is where I had my first short time and encounter in December 1974...... what great memories
True..I used to go to that church before coz my aunt was so devoted and we bring a lot of food for all those going to church.. My brother is delivering ice cubes for all those bars and whenever i go to gapo i always join with them to deliver but never been inside the bar, just waiting for my bro to come out after he dropped the ice.. I always laugh everytime my brother saying"Nakakasawa naman lagi nalang silang nakahubad"😅Like he used to it already and never surprise anymore.. They keep on hugging him everytime he passed by the girls around but my brother said, hey get out and laughing..😅
@@wandernonoy My brother is popular in barretto, you can see him in his ice block and cubes shop by the talipapa at 164. He always needed assistant actually most of the time,go on and apply🤣Take the chances hahaha.
@@wandernonoy brother, you missed out… The entire Magsaysay Drive was a red light district… Every single buildings standing were night clubs and bars..
You said it right on,I was there in and out in 1967/69 on the USS Arlington agmr2 Damage Control 3ed class, had plenty of good times there. It will Never be the same as back then,So Glad I was there at that time in my life.
Rock Lobster Bar is on the bay side now. I have a latest video and I did a Walking Day tour. Here"s the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FZIgp6RbbH0.html. At 22:49 my camera captured the Rock Lobster Bar. It's between the Palm Tree Resort and Mangos Resort. All in the bayside. Thank you for watching my video. I appreciate it much. Love from the Philippines.💟😊👍
I was there in 1979 with the RCN and spent some time in a part of the city close to the main gate at Subic. At first, we couldn't go anywhere without the girls. By the third day, and by sharing beer with the locals, we were safe. I was an idiot when I was young, I'd never pull a stupid stunt like that again.
Thank you for sharing those good ol memories. If you have time come visit Olongapo in the Philippines. Who knows you still have some expats friends living here in the Philippines.😊
Still looking nice, I'm here residence of Illinois USA, you walking around at night, well here in Illinois too many car napping and holdup going on at night, and still the recism against Asian is bad, I'm so happy to see someone is walking around at night, Thanks for sharing your Video. New subscriber here.
Thank you for watching my video. It saddens me to know that your place is not safe to walk or roam around at night. As the saying goes, the beauty of a place can also be seen at night and not just during the day time. Its also during night time that a city strips itself and shows its true colors. If you happen to pass by the Philippines, please do visit Olongapo or the Walking street in Angeles Pampanga. They are safe for tourists.

Interesting vlog tnx 😊 but i have a thing with Philippines bars as opposed to Thai bars too many are hidden behind closed doors so u don't know what ur getting without going inside and no good for people watching 😊
But bar owners and security guards will allow you to go inside and check. Forrestt Gump once said: Life is like a box of chocolate, you"LL never know what you gonna get. 😂 That's the thrill and excitement that awaits you inside! 😁But the Walking Street in Fields Avenue Angeles City is way more fabulous. Nope. It's quite big. But I've shown only that single stretch of highway where most of the big bars and hotels are located. You know...like where most of the action is happening 😊
I doubt it’ll ever be what it was. There was a port call a few weeks ago. They didn’t let anybody off the ships. Those that did I understand had to stay in the Freeport zone, old Subic base.
@@dave-d-grunt so sad that they didnt let anybody off the ship. But if they will stay longer in the Philippines, who knows one day they will be allowed again. We'll see
