The Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Mainlines out of Vancouver run along the Fraser and Thomspon Rivers on their way to Kamloops, BC. I was able to railfan along this unique route for a couple days and get some nice action.

Excellent work, nice to see Canada in 4k! Been a long time since I've visited Canada to be exact 33 years in 1986 for railfanning and the World's Fair.

Wonderful video-both the trains and the scenery - it’s wonderful you can tell which way tne trains are going by looking at the direction of the river flows!

Thanks for the great videos, looks like you had a pretty fine couple days on this highway. I've travelled this road hundreds of times in my life and never get tired of the trains, or the scenery. Trans Canada Hwy #1in case any one's thinking of coming to BC for a bit of fantastic train action. The double bridge over the canyon is at Cisco Crossing, about 20'ish minutes east of Boston Bar. Very small white sign above the back side of a stop sign says Cisco Crossing Rd, super quick dive to the left (if headed east) down a CN gravel road, park, then walk across the tracks and head right alongside the line, short walk. lols...Crossing track is illegal, just say'n

Great video; I shot slides in the area, starting in the early 1970s. I should be pointed out that CN and CP have a mutual agreement, whereby westbound trains run ion the high bridge and eastbound consists go under the bridge. This way, both railways can put more trains on the line. It also includes the Rocky Mountaineer using the same arrangement, in season.

Cool vids as always Tony. I never particularly cared too much for the CP Candyapple Red they use on their engines and rolling stock. Too dull imo. Always been more a fan of their Action Red shade they used on their equipment from 1968 to 1993.

The engineer's don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954.

Great video!! I like how their F40PH's aren't always screaming in Run 8. I'm assuming those modifications to the rear of the units are for winter operations.

Actually, I think it has something to do with fuel efficiency. I saw a documentary on "The Canadian" in the "MIghty Trains" series where they talked about upgrading the locomotives. Of course, I can't find that video now. I believe VIA added a small diesel generator to the back to allow the locomotive to generate electrical power for the train without having to use the prime mover to do it. Apparently it saves them a lot of fuel.

@@rayopeongo That makes sense, since Amtrak's were set-up for head end power. That's why they were always in Run 8. Thanks!!

Magnificent footage in awesome Canadian scenery. A pleasure to watch on a big 75"TV screen with the surround sound turned up. I just subscribed to your channel and please do the same for me Train Lord in South Australia a long way away from this epic action.
