Songtan Special Tourist Zone in Pyeongtaek is located near a US military base and consists of shopping malls and entertainment facilities. It is often referred to as “Little Itaewon” because it bears a similarity with Itaewon’s alleys.

I was at Osan AFB a couple of weeks before going to Kunsan AFB in 1971. I was maybe 19. Met a Korean girl named Ku, she cried when I had leave for Kunsan. Even though I met others in Kunsan, she was special. She must be in her seventies now like me. It makes me sad to think she is old now like me.

I was stationed at Osan Air Base in 75-76 and 82-83 the area has made a massive transformation. American society can learn a lesson from our South Korean friends in how to invest revenue in upgrading infrastructure. Quality of life in that small nation has made a giant leap for the better.

I can second that. I was at osan from 1983 to 85. I'm astonished by the changes. I don't miss the chemical suit and exercises

I just left 6 months ago and I miss it so much. God I wanna go back so much but I’m not gonna let my self be held back to one spot because there’s so much to be explored

Thanks for sharing. I was stationed there 87-88, 90-91, 93 and 97. Crazy amount of changes. My first wife was Korean but sadly passed on. I miss Korea. The people, the food and the rich culture. I tried to teach my son Korean but he didn't want to learn. I need to go back and visit and see if I can still hang conversationally. Now that I'm retired I'll have to do just that.

I was stationed there 78-79..nothing there back then ,it was like slums ,dirty, only a few paved roads same railroad tracks but was full of trash and exposed rails and ties...place looks great now..clean

Thanks for sharing this video. I was stationed Osan AB called K55 1955-1957. Outside main gate dirt road with shacks both side. Everything off limits. We could walk Main Street couldn’t go into village. Called Chico village. No flush toilet. I worked Base Office, but would have to sleep Inside to meet Aircraft C-119 from Ashiya Japan and C124 from Tachi. 1-2 in morning. Oil heater to keep warm. Went back to Osan before Covid. Invited by base historían an Wing Commander. I am 87 years old.

I was there 2009-2010. Why so long? Where you an officer? Though the tours were 1-2 years.

I was there Nov10-Nov11 and I'm watching this going, "Hey that's still there, that too! Oh that moved over there." Yea a lot changed, but a lot stayed the same.

The streets/alleys in this video have been walked upon by hundreds of thousands of U.S. Air Force members and their friends/families, probably dating back to the Korean War in the early 50's. Over my Air Force career I was stationed at Osan 3 separate times(89-90,93-94, 06-07). in 2007 I retired about 2 miles away from this area so had to take my car over to the main gate just to go "downtown" that we see in this video. All those alleys have a story and it's amazing some of the hotels, bars, restaurants are still there from 1989. 5:49 Boo Lounge was the infamous Golden Gate and 6:05 Velvet bar was Stereo(1989). An ex gf lived in a very little shack across the street at 31:36 she ended up marrying a co-worker of mine. 33:27 Boogie House was there back in 1989. 34:43 to the right used to be Top Gun God I almost forgot the name. Top Gun had the infamous "Judy" dancing and being a juicy monster/ho from hell lol. Biggest Air Force/Army groupie I ever saw. 26:40 Asia Tourist Hotel used to be the Chun-IL I had a few wild nights there when it cost 15,000 won a night. 26:09 the 24 hour restaurant used to be a cheap hotel in 1993 a couple of guys that worked for me actually lived there for about 6 months RIP Greg Ramsey.

Wow! Things have changed. If I remember and if that is the same gate to Osan, shops and things used to go up to the front gate essentially; basically the front gate was pretty much at the end of the street if I recall. No more "Juicy Girls"? Is Osan still the number one Article 15 base? Never did the bars much and way back when a controversy with some street vendors using old waste papers from the base to use for the fried food on offer. Also, no go go dancers or slot machines in the NCO club? As an officer we used to have commander's call in there. Mostly the O club next to the Mexican restaurant. That was one year out of my life that I am glad has passed. Enjoyed the year there but glad to leave when I did. Prior to Osan, was stained at Norton AFB, C-141 aircrew. We were at Osan overnight, one of our loadmasters slipped on the ice put his arm through a window and died from the bleeding as they could not stop it before getting him to the hospital. I would say from the video, give or take where that BOSTON shop is located. It was one of the many sneaker shops that lined the area in those days. Nice to see that it is a pedestrian area now.

In Osan - Pyeongtaek station: Assault schedules daily: 8000 people ( birth year:1982/ male) and 6000 people ( birth year: 1980/ male)

Wow.... that is not the Songtan i remember (06-07, 09-10). Very clean and quiet. They really cleaned up the strip. Idk if thats a good thing or a bad thing 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
