In the heart of the Colorado Rockies a few miles from Alma - the highest altitude city in the Western Hemisphere is the name that inspired one of the most iconic adult animation cartoons of all-time. South Park City is an open air museum that explores one of the most successful Silver mining camps in Colorado. A name that would eventually be changed to "FairPlay" because the citizens of the camp believed that everyone there deserved a FairPlay at trying their hand in mining and striking it rich. Just a few hours outside of Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs this scenic mountain silver camp is a one of a kind place to visit while in Colorado.
While this section itself is not the inspiration for Comedy Network's South Park, some of the buildings were used as inspiration for the cartoon. The namesake here is the biggest inspiration to the famous adult cartoon. Trey Parker who grew up just outside of FairPlay claims that the town itself was one of the biggest inspirations for the classic show.
