Beautiful piece, Hafiz. I'm not one for light-coloured dials but this one is a total stunner and may have just become a grail. Thank you for an excellent photography, as usual, it was hugely enjoyable to watch.

Having been into watches for over 30 years (and being WOSTEP certified) I know that the appreciation and affection for silver sunburst dials is something that arrives quite a long way down the line in this love for watches. It takes knowledge and experience to understand why it is the best dial color simply because there's no hiding in it. It reveals if it's a good design or not which is something a colored dial can compensate for and/or hide. And even further down the line in this wonderful madness that is the love of watches you find yourself only searching for that "basic" three hander plus a date with that perfect silver sunburst dial. I know few of you reading this will understand but for those of you who does. Congratulations. You´re now a part of a brotherhood of genuine watchlovers.

I was set on the black dial in the beginning, but the more I looked into the silver dial, i fell in love with it. When paired with the contrast of the black rubber strap, the silver dial is by far the most beautiful vs black or blue dial imo. I just purchased it and will be arriving on couple of days. I cannot wait to wear it and enjoy it! Thank you for the great, through review!

I personally love how they have matched the length of the date window to that of the 9 o'clock index. This is something I have often wished manufactures did. My OCD just loves how that "inner circle" of indices is undisrupted haha

Agreed, it creates much more balance on the dial, in my opinion. I'm probably in the minority, but I like their date window much more than that on the Royal Oak.

I am not a huge VC fan but I must say that dial and black accents really make this watch exceptional. If they could keep the dial make it 39mm or trim the lug to lug it would be perfect for me.

The lack of lume at the 3 o'clock position is a design mistake. I'd choose this over a PP Nautilus or AP Royal Oak.

I love the overseas line, in fact all varations. However, for me the blue dial overseas is truly amazing. I also find the legibility of the blue overseas to be excellent even in low light conditions. Glare that you report, nor the date window impacts the enjoyment for me.

I purchased an OP41 with silver dial from my local AD at the weekend. And like the VC the dial is mind blowing, so much so it makes my other Rolexes feel almost insignificant- taste is subjective I know. The VC overseas in blue has been my grail watch, but now 100% it’s the silver dial. One of the most stunning watches I’ve seen and thanks for a great review

I own the blue three hander. Honestly the white date box is hardly noticed when wearing daily. Additionally the lume on the indices are almost a perfect color match to the white of the date box so it blends in quite nicely when you glance at your watch when checking the time.

I agree and I thought I was the only one. I have seen the 3 dial colors side by side at the show and for me the silver is the best, second is blue then the black . The silver dial looks crisp and clean. Highly legible. It’s not like any other silver color that you find with other watches. It is fluid and has depth. The markers look like piano keys.

How about the Silver Surfer Overseas? I picked up the new 4520v silver dial in November, and your video was very helpful in helping me to make the decision. The minor issues you had with the blue dial are things that I might not notice immediately, but they are certainly things that would continue to poke at me in the long term. I saw the blue dial in person, but on the gold... Although the blue is stunning and as special as everyone says, it was not something I think I would enjoy over the years. The silver dial was the one for me.

I find the watch overstyled with too many Maltese crosses, on the dial, bezel, crown, bracelet, clasp, everywhere. The silver sunburst dial does nothing for me. I find the blue dial stunning, but would never buy this piece for its overall look. I enjoy simple designs a lot more.

I own the blue dial which rummer says the same company makes that blue dial for F.P Journe. I would put this watch against a A.P or P.P. any day.

When I saw this watch in the flesh I was surprised how much I disliked it There is something about the match of indices hands and dial that I thought looked really cheap , certainly much prefer the blue .

Great video boss and review. I greatly appreciate your characteristic photography and analytic/descriptive reviews on watches which you have made into your own thing. Respect. I don't like this watch but I do like your review on it. Where are you based? I can't remember if you have ever covered a state of the collection vid or some kind of background video on yourself and what made you get into watches and youtube. The sweep of the second hand has to be the smoothest that I’ve ever seen on any fully mechanical watch. By fully mechanical I am excluding Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive mechanism which I also find to be very elegant in motion.

Agreed. Spring drive is technically “not” a mechanical movement. They call it hybrid, but whatever you name it, it has electronics in it and is not Mechanical by its principle or construction.

The silver one looks less busy compared to the blue one. Still, I feel they could do more with this watch, the date indeed being a bit bland. Time for a revamp, more modern dare I say…?

I found it interesting you compare the case thickness with the AP 15202 rather than the 15500. Excellent photography as always. Do hope you get your hands on the 7900V as keen to hear your thoughts, albeit the case being thicker again!

The 15500 is about 10.3mm, and the 15400 is 9.8mm

Comparison with the 15500 does make more sense given the price and the size. But the true Royal oak is only 15202. Now what’s a true VC steel integrated watch? If the answer is 4500V (with 222 no more), then I’ve nothing else in the VC line to compare with 15202.
