Splash was so cool, that scene before the drop and burrows lament gives me chills and makes me nerd out. Idk what the hell tiana is going for a guardians vibe? It’s a party? I’m not sure 😂😂😂.
2:35 Entering Slash Mountain: *Brightly Light, Dozens of Happy Critters Singing an Upbeat Song* Entering Tiana's Mountain: *Darkness, Disembodied Singing with No Signs of Life in Sight 👁️👁️* I think that comparison speaks for itself
OK, I know people aren’t gonna like my opinion. I was there when splash Mountain opened and I love the ride, but I also really like Tiana princess and the frog story is really cute. I love all the critters. They did a good job and I know people don’t wanna break from their principal, but DISNEY did good Things change people change time change if we don’t change with it. It becomes stagnant and no longer relevant. It’s OK for change and I think true people would realize that Walt was all about change all the time so that being said I love the ride good job, DISNEY. I think you hit it out of the park oh and by the way, my 14 year-old son totally gets the right now. G wonder if that makes any sense absolutely he thinks it’s cool.
As much I do love BOTH "Song of the South" and "The Princess and The Frog", I really wish Disney could've left the OLD Splash Mountain the way it was, and put the "Princess and the Frog" Ride somewhere else in the Parks!
@@dogg-paws I agree, a billion dollar company cannot even produce a good attraction. At this point, why spend the money to get rid of a good attraction you already made?
While I do enjoy Splash Mountain and I still do to this day, I do feel like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has more of a improvement in comparison only because the line has more theming and in the ride there is more to look at. But overall the ride is pretty much exactly the same only difference is the theming. Also is it just me or does the splash look more intense on Tiana’s than Splash Mountain lol 😂
I hate to know what became of everything that was in the previous final scene. The steamboat, all of those animatronics... I really hope they weren't trashed.
@@robSmith-be4jlyou don’t get it, all the money used for the props in the ride previously would be wasted in this garbage of an attraction. Not to mention that the props costs way more for the theme before this ride.
The only thing i like is the small splash after the logs pass by the first drop but otherwise it's WDWs Tiana on a smaller scale. Same Animatronics and all, i don't like how there's less animatronics than befoe, and most of them have 1-3 movements compared ti the larger cast of Spalsh
I've never experienced the original Spash Mountain, but I did ride Tiana's Bayou. I won't lie. The ride felt kind of lackluster. It felt like it was lazily slapped together in comparison to all of the other rides at Magic Kingdom. I liked the Princess and the Frog movie, but Disney really dropped the ball when it came to this ride. They even did the collectible pin a dirty by featuring every major character, BUT Tiana on it! This was almost as bad as them _literally_ pulling a dirty by featuring Tangled as a set of RESTROOMS instead of an actual attraction!
I am not the type of person that is necessarily off-put by "change" in general, like is so often the case, so I do know why they needed to update the ride based on an old 1946 cartoon (it was a different time!). It is strange however that they decided to retrofit this ride as late as 2024 to be based on a movie released 15 years prior and largely considered to be somewhat middle of the pack for Disney's animated roster. I recall people at the time being not as excited as they wanted to be for it, and though I love Disney as a whole I found myself struggling to even remember the name of the movie and what it was about. Upon watching this video I found myself missing the 'foreboding' feeling the original built-up prior to the big drop, even as I grew older at Disneyland I remember it always feeling eery and getting those goosebumps going. That said, after the smaller drops earlier inside I did think to myself that they did a good job with the updated props in areas that did not have them before, to fill out the experience. Overall it is probably a sideways step. No great offense was made in the changes, no great victories. The important parts are still there, the big exciting drop, and the excuse to snuggle up with the person you were there to enjoy the park with.
The beginning part as you go into the barn is in my head meant to symbolise exiting the real world and transported into the animated world of the br’er characters. Everything done on splash seemed to be intentional, having purpose behind it rather than being mere decoration. The new ride is lazy, cost more to accomplish and the only redeeming thing as you said is the retention of the original ride system, which is literally the bare minimum of what they could have done. They used newer tech for the figures and updated how they move I’ll give you that, but they aren’t utilised nearly as well as the originals were… how is that even possible? If you notice in the original ride, you don’t see a character, turn the corner and instantly see them again.. they’re broken up by eachother, you’d see the bear and the fox, then the rabbit then some scenery and other filler characters, then the trio again in a different scene in a different scinario. The lack of visual gags is one of the biggest and most obvious take away for me, you didn’t have to know a story with splash to understand the rough story beats as they explained themselves visually.. that alongside a clear shift in tone towards the middle through music key and lighting to anticipate the drop vs no build up at all. Then you have the iconic songs which speak for themselves, one of which being one of Disneys anthems for a number of years. But no, you’re right, it was just a mere sidestep not a complete downgrade in every sense of the word…..
Disney deemed Splash Mountain racist for some reason. I’ve seen Song of the South, it isn’t racist. So they decided to use their only black character and force her into a ride that makes no sense to the character. The pandering to black people is insulting
@@robSmith-be4jl are ya serious lol, so a company you’re paying for an experience from doesn’t owe you anything? It bloody well owes you a good time and your moneys worth. Don’t be so ignorant…
Not a bad ride, but Splash is just sooo much better in almost every way. That finale scene might be the only real competition Splash has with this new ride, I think it’s absolutely incredible. But other than that, the animatronics aren’t as animated and there’s not as many and the music was far catchier in splash (but it’s still pretty good at tiana’s)
@@dogg-paws it clearly isn’t, it has everything splash has, having him wouldn’t make sense. Maybe if nostalgia blind people like you were not so oblivious to the fact you could actually make good statements
@@Mochichu-w6b Oh come on, Dr. Facilier was one of the best Disney villains ever made, and if they were gonna retheme the ride, they needed to create a very exciting story like Splash Mountain was and they completely failed. The lack of Dr. Faciler was a symptom of the terrible plan of lacking a conflict in the story. You don't need to be "nostalgia blind" to see TBA for the downgrade it is. You've been deceived.
So… from what I can see splash mountain was a lot darker than Tiana’s bayou adventure. I kinda prefer Tiana’s ride, but I also have no nostalgia for splash mountain.
I love the retheme. Princess and the Frog is one of the best Disney films, Much deserving of an attraction in the parks. My only wish is that they add some story to the queue audio explaining about the party and Tiana’s need for a band. The subtle mention by Tiana during the lift hill isn’t enough to explain the ride.
@@dogg-paws The animatronics are so much more advanced so it’s understandable that there are less due to budget restrictions but they are used effectively. Frozen ride at EPCOT is very similar in design as Tiana’s with limited animatronics and a very similar story, and people love the Frozen ride.
They could have updated Splash Mountain - it was a classic, good storyline, great theming. Certainly they would have saved $100M+, been done in half the time (and the ride would work) - and Disney would not have disappointed so many loyal fans. Tiana's ride is wholly forgettable.
How? There are fewer animatronics, worse music, lack of conflict in the story, and multiple moments of darkness. TBA is a complete downgrade from Splash Mountain.
0:59 it’s here where the mission of the ride is explained but it’s so fast and even in this video you can’t hear Tiana tell us what’s going on. It feels like we should already know at this point but the ride queue doesn’t explain it before boarding the ride. They could have easily had the radio announcer that speaks in the queue audio explain that Tiana’s throwing a big party but still needs to find a band to perform and needs help finding musicians. Something as simple as that would make it make sense and make us feel a part of the story. That’s my only gripe.
Overall not horrible but still doesn't compare to Splash. The final scene was probably better than Splash's final scene, but the overall ride wasn't an improvement over replacing a staple attraction like Splash. Did Disney hit it out of the park like they needed to? Nope, not even close. The songs were superior in Splash, the storytelling was superior in Splash, and the suspense and climax were better in Splash. There was no thrilling dramatic moments prior to or while lifting up the hill. In Splash, they made it feel suspenseful and drama filled. That wasn't there in the new ride. Overall, I give it a 5 out of 10. Would rather ride Thunder or Space over waiting 3hrs for this. Splsh used to be a must go. Now it's going to be a if the line is short kind of ride.
Thanks for posting this! Confirmed my thoughts that the Laughing' place scene is the only part of S.M. I'll miss, big feels in there. Tiana's has done a great job updating the ride with a more optimistic story but the same experience.
Agreed, it’s on par with Pooh next door. We’re having a party, yay party! Seems Disney has decided they don’t want sad and scared characters in Critter/Bayou Country. I’m just happy to see new effects and technology from the Imagineers.
Tianas doesn't even compare to the great splash mountain. I can see if tianas was built and there never was a splash mountain we might say this is cool, a log ride with animatronics and a high drop. It wasn't built first and even if it was and the roles were reversed I'd like splash alot more. This ride is a bore and the story is weak.
Tiana's brocoli adventure😂... this ride doesnt do it anymore...i hate the green...the splash mountain colors are sooo much better ....they realy popped
This is such an F* you to the face to be honest. This is such a downgrade to the original, at least the Splash Mountain had conflict and at least a storyline TBA has little to no conflict at all. Not to mention when preparing for the drop, it felt boring than when it was Splash Mountain. Plus Splash Mountain had more variety of characters compared to TBA having a lack of new characters and it’s mainly focusing on the main cast of the movie. Plus I can’t imagine the waste of props in the back not being used. TBA could have been much better if it had a storyline, at least based it on the actual movie and not come up with a story that no one wanted. I know Splash Mountain was a bit scary but that’s what made it fun and exciting, TBA had non of the things that made the previous attraction great. Disney just needs to get their act together here, or we might just be losing the Disney theme parks we love.
Honest opinion: Tiana's Bayou Adventure is trash. Splash Mountain has its own charm with the animatronics and lighting. I do not like the video effects in Tiana's Adventure.
@@dogg-paws It doesn't look like fewer animatronics? If it is, they look like they're better animatronics, or more effectively deployed. Good mix of real and screen. Just brighter, fun, nice movie tie-in (to a movie that's still watched - not an essential ingredient, but nice to have). I appreciate a lot of people will be nostalgic about Splash Mountain and that's fine - I can be resistant to change myself!! - but ultimately, it's the same ride, just brighter and modernised. You can always recreate the old days at home, by buying some mangey old stuffed animals and listening to zippity-doo-dah in the bath. It's a flume ride - the fact that you get a fun story and stuff is great, but I don't really see any great need for "conflict". The old splash Bre'r Rabbit story was quite peculiar really (the old stories were fun, but the Disney version was odd - same as with Mr Toad really...)
Um, it looks like the exact same ride, except Tiana's had more animatronics and new ones. I went on Splash Mountain and it wasn't all that. I would like to attribute most of the comments to people who just hate change but am afraid I'm being overly generous. And as a kid, I loved the Song of the South film, enough so that I read the books but as I grew older I realize it was of its time. Although I will say, "Zip-a-Dee-Do-Da" is a hell of a ear worm song.
I was at Disneyland today. In the new Tiana area there’s a gift shop that sells a key chain that’s a Grape soda bottle cap. No other flavors, just grape.

So many haters in the comments, please stay out of line so the rest of us can get on, SHEESH! Splash Mountain was painfully outdated. The queue was less than exciting, the animatronics were ancient. Thankfully we’re coming around to the future. Hopefully Tomorrowland is next.
There's was nothing outdated about a timeless experience like Splash Mountain. It combined the thrill of a ride with excellent storytelling, music and presentation that made people love it. It's not the ride's fault that it was poorly maintained in its final years. Stop defending the atrocity that is TBA. You're only deceiving yourself.
Wait a minute. I thought yall said Splash Mountain had more animatronics?? I don't see a difference, other than S.M. animatronics barely move. 😂 Clearly Tianas is a much more visual and vibrant ride. Splash looks out dated like all the other rides in Fantasy land...
Splash does have more animatronics, but like the previous commenter noted, Disney neglected the ride so badly in its last few years of operation that they don’t even work properly. Tiana’s critters barely move and the splash animatronics are just so much better in that regard.
Ah wow look how well this new stuff works compared with this stuff no one even thought about maintaining for the past 12 years, what a sausage 🤣 maybe you’d see all the 109 animatronics if they even bothered to replace light bulbs. Don’t worry though, they evacuate tianas all the time on both coasts, so you’ll be able to see all those “”48”” animatronics they have in tianas, 30 of which are have the same level of animation that a home depot yard decoration would have (if not less). But yeah, go ahead and spend thousands to see this if you think it’s good lmao, it’s all subjective at the end of the day
Disney should bring them back splash Mountain at demolish princess in the front down to the ground and bring back splash Mountain bye-bye bye-bye, princess and the frog and welcome back splash Mountain
I don't get the weird attachment to Splash Mountain's theme. It was always the annoying singing animal ride that you had to stomach to experience the iconic drop. Barely a step above Chuck E Cheez. At least now it's themed off a movie people actually kinda like.
@@TealBishie Splash Mountain was an experience that combined the thrill of a ride with great storytelling, music, and presentation. Just how is that annoying? Stop defending this stupid decision. Wake up.
It had a consistent narrative to help build up the final drop and make it a more dramatically effective element. This bafflingly does the opposite, purposefully neutering its thrills to make a more pandering story.
@@subs-kh2mw Per interviews with the LA Times, the thrill factor was purposefully watered down to make it less scary for kids...which defeats the purpose of a ride that was not only purpose built to be thrilling, but have the ride build up dramatically to that final drop. They were so focused on being inclusive and welcoming of everyone that they seemed to forget the ride is a thrill ride that is inherently _not_ for everyone, which is why it fundamentally does not work.
