Ganghwa Natural History Museum is located near the Ganghwa Dolmen Site, a World Heritage Site. It opened its doors in 2015 to promote the proper perception of nature and life, and the exploration of the minerals and creatures that make up our planet. The Ganghwa Natural History Museum displays a wide variety of minerals and creatures, each divided into special themes. The first floor is organized into four themes: the birth of the solar system, the Earth filled with various creatures, creatures adapting to their environment, and human evolution. The second floor has five themes: ecosystems and food webs, reproduction that sustains species and populations, camouflage and mimicry, fortified tidal flats, and creature migration. A particularly eye-catching exhibit is the sperm whale in the lobby. The 14.5-meter-long, 20-ton sperm whale, which was discovered in 2009 in Bolumdo, Seodo-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, piques the curiosity of children.
