I haven't been to Elgin since 1970. I loved hearing the songbirds. The river is just as I remember it. The brick walkways and "new" trees completely changed downtown in the best way! Thanks so much for the video. Elgin is beautiful!

Grew up in Elgin, haven't been back in years, brought back great memories.

The city has been really cleaned up since I left in 1978. Couldn't wait to get out of Elgin, it was dirty, hard to get work, was deteriorating badly. I see they really cleaned it up. Looks really nice like downtown Orlando, Florida where I live now. Can't get over how different it looks.

Grew up a 70's child in Elgin....went to Sheridan and Larsen ( back when it was Jr High)..lived on Franklin Blvd about half mile from Lords Park...My dentist was in the Elgin Tower where my father was the elevator operator....I remember the Grove and the Crocker movie theaters...The Woolworth's snack bar....Great childhood memories

I used to live in Elgin. Downtown used to be a ghost town. I'm glad to see the city is looking a lot better. I miss Al's Cafe and Brother's Soul Food.

I grew up in Elgin❤ i remember walking down the riverside like this as a kid.

I can't believe how much it has changed over the years. Where his video started off used to be a covered parking garage with bums residing in it lol. I used to go fishing right there and I had a loft apartment which was right behind him. Once the river boat opened they really started to clean up the area.

These trees were planted in 2008 that you see on the boulevards as part of the rejuvination of downtown elgin under mayor shock

Love Elgin. I remember the big Elgin Watch Co. I lived there until the 70s. The Fox River, downtown is so calming

Just sold my house in chicago, have been looking at homes and neighborhoods in elgin, its affordability and beauty caught my attention after my realtor told me about this area.

What a delightful video of downtown. I enjoyed working at the Bell Telephone Co in the 80s and am 🎉 to see the area revitalized. I lived in the historical area, but it was not until years later I found out that an aunt and uncle I had lived with in Antioch, Il had earlier lived a few doors down from my house. My Aunt Carry lived on chicago Street. Who knew!!

Can you do one on nearby Schaumburg? A lot of people in the community think it had potential of having walkable public places, but were mismanaged and had not a lot of creativity in making those spaces and attracting people to go out and about on foot.

Used to drive a cab years ago and one day had a fair from Ohare to Elgin. Was my first and last time there but I really liked the city it has a good atmosphere

Elgin is one of tye top 10 affordable cities to live in this year. In 1862 the underground railroad had its first arrival of freed slaves to our great town.
