Personally, I love the concept of those Plattenbau buildings. It was/is cheap and good living back in socialist times and today. This video is a good example of how well Germany is maintaining those neighborhoods!

I wish we could have kept the good things about the DDR, while getting rid of the bad things. Being a lover of Brutalism, I think this neighborhood is an example of the good things--a beautiful area with tree-lined streets, parks, and beautiful architecture.

Berlin.. i was suppsedly in Berlin last May and then last minute the event is cancelled by Berlin governemnt..so so sad

In the 1980s Marzahn actually had a higher standard of living than Friedrichshain, Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. Most buildings in Friedrichshain etcetera were in a dilapidated condition.
