Koh Chang Island - which means "Elephant" in Thai - is the second largest island in Thailand after Phuket. It is located approximately 400 kilometers southeast of Bangkok in Trat province, near the border with Cambodia.
Previously, Koh Chang was known as a resort where wealthy Thai residents mainly vacationed, who found tranquility, comfort and the opportunity to relax peacefully from the bustle of the city. Nowadays, Koh Chang is becoming increasingly popular among foreign visitors who prefer the privacy of a pristine tropical location to the noise and fun of traditional Thai resorts. Foreigners are attracted here by the opportunity to relax on an exotic island, where civilization does not yet dominate the wild nature and the resort infrastructure does not resemble an “urban jungle.” The number of tourists visiting the island is constantly growing.
I visited the island in May, which is the low tourist season. The weather at this time of year is changeable and there are rains. There are very few people at the resort; relaxing at this time is pleasant for those who love privacy and silence.
