Love this truck. My wife bought a limited a month ago after trading in her 04 for a 2019 Acura RDX that turned out to be a LEMON!! WILL NEVER LEAVE TOYOTA AGAIN!! Got the third row in her 2020. Absolutely LOVE THIS TRUCK! I'll be trading in my 2011 Escalade for a TRD PRO in a few months.

Just traded in in my 2008 Highlander Limited AWD for a 2021 4Runner Limited Nightshade AWD. Honestly, I was happy driving my 2008, but the nightshade kept calling my name and I finally caved, lol.. As far as rear area options, I NEVER used the 3rd row seats in my highlander, not once, even with two kids, so I went with the sliding cargo deck for tailgating capability. I never would have chose that option without this video. Thank you so much!

I think the third row, based on what I am looking for, I love the TRD offroad, but with kids and taking them overloading more space for sitting can help I can always get a basket and throw things on the top, these are great trucks

I'd prefer the sliding deck for my needs. If for whatever reason you need to sleep in your car, like if you're stranded or camping, it lays flat and won't be as tough on your back. Plus they have mattresses that you can put back there. Can't wait to get one!

Empty cargo!! It’s great for transporting groceries and my puppies love riding in the back with the rear window down. I traded my Wrangler for a TRD Off-road Premium and I have no regrets!!!

In 2 short years I will be buying instead of leasing. I have had pickups so they are on top of my list but I may go for a larger suv and the cargo slider is awesome with all seats folded down. I don't need 3rd row it's me n mom! I would go for the 2 row and cargo slider!!!!! Great Job!!

I have the 2016 TRD Pro with the sliding deck and thought it was pointless but after watching this video I realized it’s great having a perfectly leveled space and I did not realize I wouldn’t have that without this option. Also this dude funny af 😂 I did not expect that Snoop and Dre song he sung hahaha

The only thing with the 3rd row versus the two row is you will need a cargo for groceries for the third row due to the slant. Stuff will fall out of the back, otherwise, when you open the rear. The two row has no slant and a net is not needed. I have both 4runners, a third row and two row, both 5th gens.

Great video! Thanks for uploading. Unfortunately, you can’t convert a 3 row to be the same as a 2 row because the 2nd row seats (in the 3rd row model) seem to be taller when folded down. So, there would be an ~8” rise with the 3rd row removed and the 2nd row folded down. It would be nice if it were still mostly flat like a 2 row so you’d have a large mostly continuous cargo ‘bed’ area behind the front seats.

What are the dimensions of the cargo area of the option with the third row seats folded down, but the second row seats upright? Is it similar to the empty cargo space option? Is there a downside of having the third row seats if, when they are folded down, the cargo area is only slightly less in height than the option with no third row seats? Wouldn't it be better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them?

Hi Jeff, thanks for posting this video. Do you know if the second row seat in the three row 4Runner can be swapped into a two row 4Runner? Are the mounts the same? I like the space of the folding seats vs the flip and fold seats.

Please do this with the Highlander. I'm looking for a vanlife vehicle with 4x4. I am a Toyota fan for life so my options are limited since Toyota doesn't sell a cargo van. Sienna AWD, Tundra (with camper), 4Runner (Roof Top Tent), Tacoma, Sequoia (with RTT), Highlander (RTT).

Surprised how there is 7" more length when it has a third row?? Interesting!!!!! Really don't want a 3rd row but more length is important for transporting wood etc. Was settling on w/o 3rd row but that makes my decision harder. Thanks for the Great Info!!! Need to start a Dealer in West Branch, Mi.! Halfway stop for many who go further north! Would be a great area!!! Could do an online sales thingy with service!! $$$ 20 months or less b 4 my decision!

Would be nice to see the front passenger set folded down in a three row seating scenario it entirely folded down. What overall length can you get from the back right up to the front? Show the floor compartments in all three scenarios would be nice to see.

I wish the 2nd row versions had the same storage compartments in the rear wheel well's as the 3rd row does. I miss all of the storage compartments in my 2007 4runner. But still loven my new 2022 Limited. I still don't understand why they are putting so many cigarette lighter ports in them still rather than usb ports. Why does it need 3 of them. I replaced the front one in the dash with a stock dual usb port Toyota sell's for it took like 30 min. Love haven 5 usb ports now 3 in front 2 in back. Had to wait 2 weeks and drive 250 miles to get this thing. The 3 dealers close to me had a waiting list of 4runners a mile long.

Hey Jeff, Love all your videos on the 4Runner! Trying to find a 2022 with a rear cargo deck in the San Francisco Bay are is like trying to find a Unicorn...every dealer says they have seen maybe one that had one installed come through their dealerships in the last year. They tell me custom ordering a 4Runner with one is a 4-6 month wait right now. Can a dealer get a cargo deck installed on one of their regular allotment vehicles before they take delivery? The regular allotment is more like 1-2 months. Muchas Gracias!

Hi there! Each region is a little bit different. That vehicle is very tough to get. It’s probably several months but you can equip one how you want it. You just have to work with the right dealer who will do it

Thanks for the video and for measuring the dimensions. Hmm, 65” still means that 2 people can’t sleep into the 4runner with the seats down horizontally straight from front to back. Maybe 1 person can sleep diagonally. Another quick question: how do you do test drives during the “stay at home” order?

I hear about toyota reliability everyday on RU-vid. 4 runners last forever etc etc. I want a vehicle that will last forever but this thing is huge!! I wish toyota made something smaller but capable like a 4 runner. The older models were smaller. I really loved the Prius. Test drove one but insurance is gonna be $100 a month more. It’s too low to the ground. I will be bottoming out all the time and unlike most of you I hate that. And it’s too slow when I will need it to be fast like merging onto the highway. The size of the Prius is perfect for me actually. Btw I love the slide out tray in the 4Runner!!! I want that but make the 4 runner smaller. I have a Jeep renegade trailhawk now.
