4TH GEN TOYOTA 4RUNNER COLLAPSABLE LEAVE IN BED PLATFORM

This is a bed platform and drawer system for a 4th generation Toyota 4Runner 2003-2009. The skull thing is a bottle opener.
I used hanger bolts like these:
www.homedepot....
Just drill a pilot hole in the leg, then on the hanger bolt you tighten two nuts together, then you can drive the stud or hanger bolt into the leg. Just Google jam nut and you can figure it out. Pretty simple.
To attach the leg assembly to the plywood I used these tee nuts:
www.homedepot....
Simply drill a hole where you want the leg and tap in one of those nuts. Hope this helps!
This is the matress we use:

I've looked at A LOT of these and this one is the most room efficient one so far! The screw-in legs are a great idea as it avoids any kind of folding legs on top instead.

I'm so happy I found this video. So far you are the only one I've found who has a drawer system, with a sleep platform extention, with a similar concept to what I had in my head. I just got a 5th gen recently and I really want a drawer system/sleep platform while still keeping my back seats and this is exactly what I was thinking of!

Do you ever regret going with black? I love black (especially how it looks with silver rims), and I also bought a black one…but I’m second guessing my decision to not go with silver instead because of how hot it gets in the sun during summer!!! I’m even referring to my decision now as choosing “Oven Black.” There will definitely be situations where I could nap in a silver 4Runner, but not a black one. Just recently I found myself wanting to nap in the parking lot during a long lunch break for a day long conference, ‘Oven Black’ definitely ruined that decision, and it wasn’t THAT hot, so silver would have worked. I could of course make an adjustment IF there’s an option to find a shaded area, but the entire lot was in direct sunlight.
@wallinkevin

I agree with you and I would have gone silver over black too if I had the choice.

Use paraffin to wax whatever slides. I've found that waxed hard wood rails are as good as metal, mechanical drawer slides and more reliable over time. Paraffin instead of a candle or soap because it would be less likely to attract bears.

I live in that for almost two month , And i tell you to put bed that high is hell . Take that seat out dont be lazy you will enjoy it more . One other thing I hate is the compartment in the middle will stop you from craw up to your bed from inside .

Why do you flip the bottom of the rear seat up? Couldnt you just fold the seat in half and lower the platform and maintain the head room?

The seat backs don't fold all the way down without the bottoms flipped forward.

Kevin Wallin Nick Carver oh I gotcha. Saw someone do it in another video but it might only be ones with a third row? I don’t own one just researching, thanks!

@@BMOON19 yeah I think you're right. I want to say I saw that same video. Yeah 4runners with the 3rd row have different middle seats.

Finally, someone says how tall they are. I’m hoping as a 5’9 guy myself, I can fit in one of these. Thank you for the video!

I would love to do this exact thing. We want to do this but we also want a baby and our dog to come with everywhere, so this is leave in, storage is brilliant, and it's just perfect. I'm memorized and told my boyfriend we need to build this!!!

Do you have a link to the hinges you have or did you just get them at like Home Depot? I'm interested in doing that folding design as well.
