4th of July Campground is a picturesque forested campground located in the Cibola National Forest of the Manzano Mountains in central New
Mexico. Sites are generally small, fitting a tent and one vehicle. Many trails to hike in the area, including the 4th of July trail that leaves right from camp.
There are several vault toilets and trash service, but no water or electricity.
The road in was fine when I visited, but could get muddy in some sections after a heavy rain.

Hey, thank you for showing how the numbering works with the 4th of July CG. In fact the first weekend of August, was our first time staying there. It’s a charming campground. We stayed on site 12, it was very nice. It is a little run down, but a really nice area. The Crimson trail was very nice hike also. Saturday we did have the party campers, but not to bad. We even made it in a small Mini( no not a Countryman). But you are right you need 4x4 for the rest of the forest road. Thanks again!😃

I really like your videos. I tent camp so that's more important to me than rv availability, you cover both well I think. Will add this to my ever increasing list. Thanks! Hope to see you in the woods sometime.

I'll try this campground out. Yes, shade but also enough sun for my solar system to charge.

Just out of curiosity, have you noticed fewer people out there? The NP are busy, but it seems there are fewer in the other campgrounds.😊

It wasn’t busy at all when I was there but it’s supposed to be a lot more busy in the fall when the leaves change. I tend to camp (also a tent camper) off-season and during the week, so it’s generally not busy, but I also try to stay away from crowded areas too. That’s how I’ve always done it, and I haven’t really noticed a change, but it could be that the surge of people going “outdoors” at the start of the pandemic have gone back indoors? Also, the deeper you go in, the less people there are.

@highdesertcampertours I camp when ever it's possible, this year was really disrupted when a f1 tornado came through and dropped a 1000 trees or so, that might be an exaggeration but it seems like it. Been cleaning up a lot of big Ole oak trees helping neighbors out.
