You are on the right track. The cable, when it snaps is realeasing all of the energy it built up while being stretched. The point in which it snaps is where the energy is released. The blanket absorbs the energy and basically causes both cable halves to fall to the ground. The blanket would have to be made taught in order to accelorate at the same rate as the cable. It is kinda like punching a board versus a couch cusion. All kinetic energy is absorved before movement can take place.
I've watched so many of your vids over the last few years. This was the one that got me hooked. I really enjoy watching you drive out of trails with someone hooked up behind you. Really makes me want to build a wrecker. Amazing stuff man! Can't wait to see more.
Glad you guys showed up. That suburban needs to be scrapped! Love watching your videos tho. Sad about the old wrecker, but the new one seems to be doing just fine! Keep the videos coming
Cheese and Crackers Man !! That is one bad-ass winch !! So much could have gone wrong with this recovery - luck or some other mysterious force was on your side.
um ya i wouldnt add anymore weight lol.. but that rig did look great with the tires up in the air.. great job with the videos. hope to see you in the woods next year when my rig is done..
I got A Jeep stuck so bad A wrecker with all of us jumping on the front couldn’t get it to move. Can back 3 weeks later it was out with A note from A Michigan wheeling club. It said “ You call that stuck”
Many years ago a fellow on my shift at the mine took his new F-250 down in the river an got it stuck up to the door handles. He walked over to the stop where the mine bus picked and went to work. While at work he organized a rescue mission for after work. When we arrived at the river with men and trucks we found two fellas who had winched the Ford out and were cleaning up their tools, straps and winch. Seems they had gone down to the river found the stuck truck and thought it a great opportunity to use their new winch. It was a tense meeting at first which thankfully turned into a bonfire and beer party.
Been there but not a month, 24 hours max, lots of jacking up, friends getting rocks from anywhere they could and build a rock road out if that shit, yes you must go in and under, it's worse during the winter and you break threw the ice and get stuck in the hole. Can only hook to the frame part or you will tear off shit. I went swimming one night in ice cold water and it was 5 degrees out, thank you for beer, felt like 25 degrees, hair was wet and all. I hooked up the chain so well, it was the best hookup I done, I guess I didn't want to go in a 2nd time. We got out in a hour. Heavy Chevy, I'll never put mudding tires in again, always dug and got stuck, my all season tires that's 32's in 15 inch rims went threw everything in my 1969 Chevy. Put Mud Kings on, got stuck everywhere after that. My cousin went everywhere in 2 WD in his Toyota with 39 inch tires, super swampers go anywhere. Not cheap back then. Started breaking parts on his new 1987 Truck. Just 2 years old. Void warranty.
I used to drive a Ford wrecker and we would have done this a lot differently. First I would have chained a snatch block to the front of the Chevy, doubling the pulling power of the winch by running the cable back to the Ford and shackleing it to the rear deck. Also, I wouldn't run the cable over the crane but through a fair lead on the deck. It's not only safer in case the cable parts, but allows the cable to pull straight and lessen the load on the chassis. We also rear wheel chain plates...
Im lucky I have a backhoe.Pulled a few guys out lol Been buryed myself about the same ouch my poor truck.Pulled a shit load of guys out quading with my grizzly.Iv got double winches one on the front and one on the back, works awsome.Sweet old tow truck keep pulling. But dont pull to hard it might fall off lol.
Good effort and video, only one issue, I don't think that I could have trusted that iffy bumper to duck under after you got it out,but that's just me. Thanks and keep em coming....
After four weeks , that truck was almost a part of the swamp . It was glued to the bottom . That's a strong wrecker , that was a tough pull . Maybe that chevy needs a new nick name .
how did you reinforce your frame, did you just do sections of it or the whole frame, mine is strong and rust free but i like having things a lot stronger than they have to be, mine is an 86 silverado converted to a 1 ton so i want the extra strength without making it so stiff it wont flex
Goodyear Wrangler MT's... They're 37x12.50x16.50 off of a Humvee. You can get a set of 4 for about 400, but they're used. Can usually get them from Trailworthy Fab with 90-95% tread per tire.
Just a suggestion to the camera woman.. If she had a MONO pod it would make it easier for her to hold the cam steady and she could move around fairly easily still :D.. Love the vids keep them coming!!
Gary Robinson the truck has one winch line on it and limited capabilities. He also doesn’t charge for this stuff so he’s not going in the water to do much. Please elaborate on why he’s so bad
@@Beandiptheredneck I can't explain excellence. It is grasped or it is not. I can say that calling this outfit is not worth the damages. After watching the channel it maybe cheaper to just call a contracter. Like wow.
Gary Robinson I still don’t know how you say he’s so bad. Most times they are pulling broke down crap out of mud pits Bush trails and obstacles. Something is going to break. Besides, I don’t see you out there doing it for nothing more than a thank you. Always someone that thinks they could do better..
Years ago, a friend of mine was lied to by someone stuck off-road in the mud in order to get him to go into the woods with his wrecker. They got to the truck stuck in the mud, my friend said, "I'm not getting muddy....here, you hook it up". The guy asked, "What do I hook the cable to?" My friend replied, " Hook it to the part you want to come out"😉
@@jacoblayedback5114 Yup if that bumper would have snapped - could have been deadly. Almost foolish to trust the integrity of that bumper under all of those pounds of pulling pressure !!
