Yeah a lot of people are commenting that he's having a good year this season. Thats not really the point, the point is that he's never been an all star and he definitely had the potential to become one
Mike Korzemba very true Mike I commented that before watching the video because I saw the thumbnail but the way you explain him and Eric Gordon was very clear and I see what you going for. The moral of the story is a lot of young players come into the nba with a lot of hype and potential and some fulfill the hype, some crumble and others go on to have good long careers but never reach that star level they could have. Great video again Mike keep up the good work also how’s the mustache
Mike Korzemba I watch him at his college year in Memphis and thought the same as you regarding Tyreke Evans being a point guard. He's never been a great outside shooter but his best skill is slashing to the paint and shooting or passing it off to the open man.
Mike Korzemba Maybe you should've made the title 5 players who didn't reach their potential instead of 5 players who completely fell off... The title is misleading and a lil click baity imo
Wasnt gordon also 6 man O.T.Y. last Season? Granted imma spurs fan, but having to watch the west semis last year against Houston was Brutal. 90% of that Roster Was droppin 3s on Us. Beverly, Ariza, Dekker, hell even NeNe. Not to mention Harden and Gordon.
Taylor Klock Korzemba is talking about not being able to reach the potential they once showed. Now I do see why people are questioning why he said "fell off" because they really didn't.
The disrespect to Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon is crazy. These two fellas ball out and they both are still fairly young and have maintained their health here in their careers.
They just started to ball out again lol and they did not maintain their health for a while at all that’s why at some point they did fall off, shoot during those NO years I forgot they played basketball for a while because none of them could stay healthy. Besides AD nobody could stay on the court and then they were dumb enough to give Jrue Holiday another contract
If anything guys like Evans (17.7 ppg, 49% fg this yr) & Gordon have had a resurgence... my choices would be guys like D-Rose, Beasley, Dajuan Wagner...
Carlos Villalvazo Puentes left the jazz and couldn't bounce back from those injuries. Remember the debate about him and CP3 being the best point guard in the NBA?
Tyreke Evans is balling this year. When he got moved out of the PG spot to the SF he struggled, then nobody ever moved him back. Glad the Grizzlies are letting him do his thing
I worked at an airport and met Penny the week before his surgery. He was optimistic and pretty cool. He left me a 20 dollar tip on a 4 dollar tab. He could've been an all time great.
Say what you want but my man Tyreke Evans is balling this year off the bench in Memphis! Legit 6th Man candidate this season he's averaging 19 PPG so far.
graygutfreund I wish you guys drafted tyreke with the 3rd pick in 2009 draft because as a king fan kings killed his career he had a historical season with 20/5/5 while playing pg and after that he kept getting fuck ton injuries and change his natural position to sg and SF which they told him to get to more weight and made him slower and COULDT get to the rim as often like in his rookie year just wish if he coulda gone to the Memphis Grizzlies you coulda had a superstar and kings are known to fucking up players
Ryan Joyce Tyreke is still my favorite NBA player 😂 his rookie year and almost whole career in Sacramento was great never will I forget his half court shot or behind the backboard shot 😤
My theory is many of the high picks get drafted to scrub teams who expect them to deliver instant impact and never polish their game so if their strength drop off their weaknesses were never addressed
SeanTh3Slayer81 Jim Boeheim makes players great and when he's not coaching some of those players anymore, they dont get coached as good and become "busts". I live in Syracuse and I hope there are no more major Syracuse busts.
Mike I love your videos but you should make some videos on the current season instead of more busts in the NBA. Your content is impeccable but you could talk about current season rookies, DPOY/MVP candidates, Drummond's FT% being fixed, Boston's success, Houston's potential to take down the Warriors, the Thunder's Big Three, etc. Keep it up man!
Honestly, some young talent seems to die when they get traded, like Dion waiters, tyreke Evans, MCW, I know some young talent are doing better on other teams like demarcus cousins, Paul George, etc, but like, you for nerlens Noel, jahlil okafor who used to be big coming out of college and now pretty much not known, it's sad too see superstar potential just die from changing teams
Idk dude, the Sixers kinda killed Nerlens and Jahlil all by themselves. Did you not see how they wasted their time and talent? MCW is actually just trash though and they traded him for a reason. I don't think anyone can classify Paul George and Demarcus Cousins as young talent. They're both moving towards their late 20s and have been in the league for like 8 years. Dion has seen a bit of a resurgance in Miami and Tyreke obviously is playing much better (Pelicans really mishandled him honestly)
For anyone still here who is wondering, the 2018 Lakers pick from the MCW to the Bucks trade turned in to Mikal Bridges, who was then immediately traded to the Suns for Zhaire Smith and a 2021 first round pick. Looks like in the end the only winners were the Suns who got a decent upgrade from their pick and Bridges who gets to play with Ayton and Booker on a developing team
Basically any player who was described as "the next Larry Bird": Danny Ferry ,Tom Gugliotta, Christian Laettner, Adam Morrison, Keith Van Horn, Wally Szczerbiak, Mike Dunleavy, Andrei Kirilenko, Gordon Hayward.
So you are saying that Tyreke Evans, who averages 18.5 points per game, off of the bench I might add, is below average!!!!!???? Yeah he is totally below average😒😑.
Sam Knight dude !!! I remember that , he did it against curry I think, they were acting like Brandon Jennings was supposed to be one of the best pgs for the future
As a Bucks fan, we were so excited back then too. But bro was super cocky and a straight up bust afterwards. Add Andrew Bogut to that list to in my opinion.
Lil B Quiet u not kidding about the future shit, the man even had a high top fade before that shit came back in style! I was wondering if that shit was ever gonna come back hahah I thought he was the next big thing, has in would still be around. But it was curry, Westbrook
Sam Knight Ya he should take out Eric Gordon who is a key player on one of the best teams in the league and put in Brandon Jennings. Jennings and Tyreke Evans both looked like future superstars their rookie years.
Notice a trend with these players, they were all drafted to really shitty teams which means they never won a lot and that can mess with a guys confidence
Nice list. I am very happy to see that Tyreke Evans is doing well in Memphis. I was always very sad about what happened to him. It's interesting that you picked up on the position change in his sophomore year. I had no idea that's what it was.
Tyreke is killing it for me in Fantasy this year! I stumbled on him because I did see him as a bust but...he’s a PG, SG, SF at 18.5 PPG, 5 RPG, 4 APG, 2 3PM, 1 SPG; Is it a comeback or should I sell high?
Daniel D he still got the chance to if he goes somehwhere with the opportunity. But that doesn’t explain why he is on this list with these other ppl because these other ppl don’t even get Play time and some not even in the league soooooooo🤷🏾♂️
No offense to Mike but he has to check his facts too because my man Tyreke lowkey will win the Sixth Man of the Year. Props to Fizdale for believing on this guy. Hope this keeps up
Snipers 509 don’t get me wrong I’m a huge EG fan because I’m a rockets fan but yes he did. He could have his own team and be averaging 29 and 8. He would be better than harden. Don’t @ me.
Michael Carter-Williams having that stat line against a good team shows he was not a bust, just no one believed in him, it doesn’t matter if he was a star on a bad team, but to lead that horrible team to a amazing win with amazing stats is insane. His confidence just shook and his minutes weren’t as good anymore after that season.
This won't matter now, but when I heard that Tyreke Evans' first year he played point guard, I immediately remembered the last two games he played for the pacers, which was against the Clippers and the warriors, he played some point guard because Darren Collison was hurt. In the game against the Clippers, he had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. In the next game, he had 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists
I a different world Stephen Curry was picked my the Timberwolves and Johnny Flynn became the 2 time MVP and the Timberwolves regret picking Stephen Curry over Flynn
Johnny Flynn played in the Australian league a few seasons after the played in the NBA. It was actually huge that he played in the aussie league but he's still a bust
Something about Reality YayaJo3Y How was he Ty Lawson before Ty Lawson? He's a year or two younger then Ty Lawson and they were both drafted by the Twolves in '09
I could see complaining about Evans or Gordon being on this list, but MCW? He's ass and teams are finally realizing it. There's a reason he only plays 17 minutes a game in his 6th season, when he averaged over 30 minutes a game in everyone of his first 4 seasons. He's not even a backup anymore, he's 3rd string.
Okafor had a decent career, for the first 8 seasons he played. Sad that he got injured. The Hornet's team with West, CP3, Ariza, and Okafor was fun to watch
I'm actually fine with them drafting Derrick Rose. I'm not fine with the Heat drafting Michael Beasley or the (whichever team it was) drafting O.J. Mayo.
Organizations nvr gave him a chance because he was playing behind AD so he couldn’t show his potential, and he didn’t have outside game at the power forward teams are looking for
what would happen if LAbron went to college? He would be at risk of a career-ending injury, like the general theme of this video. Great video, enjoyed it. Opened my eyes a little bit to players i forgot about
“Confidence”...I agree! If you’re not mentally strong, lack confidence after a while, & become injury prone...then a career in the NBA will be cut short so fast before you know it.
Make a video about players whose careers were cut short by automobile / motorcycle accidents. Bobby Hurley, Jay Williams, Drazen Petrovic, Bobby Phills, Eddie Griffin, etc.
He’s baby Jason Kidd. He’ll become good, just not the star he was hyped to be. He has weapons to pass to in Jrue, BI, Zion, Favors, and JJ Redick. A perennial 13-16 PPG, 9 APG player is what he’s destined for. And that’s a good turnout.
To me Mike, it’s pretty clear you have not watched the kings when we had Tyreke. I watched about 70-75 games per year. Regardless of Tyreke playing SG, he was incredible ball dominant. His Strength was Quickness and getting to the rim. After multiple knee and ankle injuries he lost what made him special. He had the opportunities regardless of what position to score, he started settling for jumpers instead of getting to the basket. So yeah don’t talk If you don’t watch. We played position-less basketball
Injuries, playing the wrong position, missing the playoffs concistently & a lack of ego all played a roll in Tyreke's downfall. He's ballin' out this year tho.
We are seeing what tyrekes career would be like right now. He’s on the Grizzlies averaging 18-19 points and has scored 22+ in the last six games at the 1 and 2 and he is coming off the bench
