5,000 soviet union soldiers do a massive charge against the German Army Castle fortress on a hill. Can this super fortress be defended? Or will the Soviet Mega Army hill charge destroy the German Castle Walls and take the fortress after a long siege. This was made using Men of War Assault Squad 2 World War 2 Defensive Mission mods.

Austria 98 is right! The hill and the fort are real. They are in Budapest, at the Danube side, and with the castel hill they are the higest places are in the city. Very inportant places since the midle ages. The hill name is Gellért, the name of the fort is Citadella. It was bulit around 1860 by the Hasburgs to control Pest after the II. War of Independence (1848-49) of Hungary. During the sige of Budapest 1944. dec. 29. - 1945. febr. 13. it was a figthing command post, AA site, and inside the hill's natural caves was a field hospital. It was one of the last occupied stronghold by the Soviet Army. Great video thx!!!

Oh boy are you in for a treat then, my friend! You must look up Castle Itter where Nazis kept French VIPs and political prisoners and the allies took the castle and then defended it against Nazis trying to take the castle back and recapture French prisoners. The best part about this siege is the fact that the allies fought side by side with German troops aiming to protect the prisoners AGAINST SS troops. Such an interesting event to learn about

It was part of the Siege of Budapest from December 1944-February 1945, and the castle/fortress held for 6-weeks after being attacked on a three front scale. This was en effort to keep Hungary in the war under Axis Forces, and Hitler forbade any forms of withdrawal or retreat until February.

Daley, I am new to your channel, and fairly new to MOWAS2. I have been looking through the Steam workshop to try and find the same missions, but in most cases can't. Would it be possible to include a link/exact title/ author's name of the mission to make it easier to find? Maybe they were more visible in the workshop at the time you played them, but several months later... Great series BTW!

It was a good game. I think the tanks was the biggest waste. From my experience you would have been better off just sticking troops at the end and using air to take out artillery since the tanks got destroyed withing 3 mins of combat. I loved the game though the crash was upsetting

U should let the AI shoot their artillery by themselves especially when u are being pushed back so u don't have to micro manage all ur artillery its just the smarter thing to do instead of shooting single

One thing I think most map makers forget is that forts are outdated. There's a reason that all of these battles seem to come down to the wire, and it's because artillery is just so dominant on the battlefield that static defenses just... don't. The example I always come back to is the Liege Forts in 1914. They held against German infantry assault for a full day. Rather than commit to more such assaults, the Germans brought in siege guns and reduced them with massive bombardment over the course of two days. Forts just don't stand up to punishment anymore.

A Little Late but this is the Citadella which sits upon Gellért hill which over look budapest and it is also home to where the Soviet’s built a liberty statue to commemorate their victory in WW2

Since u were wondering if this was a real WW2 battle here u go... The Battle of Castle Itter was fought in the Austrian North Tyrol village of Itter on 5 May 1945, in the last days of the European Theater of World War II.
