Dude looks like he has better command on his breaking pitches than his 4 seam. Impressive velocity though for a guy his size.

There was a relatively short pitcher back in the day, a lefty named Billy Wagner. In once yelled support to him while he was warming up in the outfield and he turned and looked at me. Similar outcome here in terms of mph, but this new guy throws more 3/4, it seems. Impressive.

Thousands of pitchers in H.S, college and minor leagues throw 95 now and most of them will never make it to MLB

First thing I thought of when reading the tittle was Billy Wagner.

Man, these poor catchers. After a month of this, I bet they're ready for D1.

do you think since the fastball has so much carry the curveball is too big?
@treadathletics
@treadathletics 7 месяцев назад
So long as the velo is there (80+) and there's some sort of bridge pitch in the gyro slider, it's likely going to be successful. We've had some big leaguers struggle because they throw a carry fastball and then a huge curveball that's only mid 70s. The Wainwright effect if you may. Adding a cutter or a gyro to split the difference can be huge for guys like that.

He seems to land with the foot slightly open. Is that due to his hip structure?
@treadathletics
@treadathletics 7 месяцев назад
The foot lands slightly open, but the stride is slightly cross body. Likely a combo of hip structure and getting back in line with the plate after cross striding

Traditionally, it's more difficult to throw early in the morning as compared to an afternoon/evening game

A lefty with that pace could go a long way if he can harness his control

My guess is a 10th round pick at best. His body wont hold up. Look up JR Graham from Santa Clara U. About the same size and threw 102. Had a cup of coffee with the Twins.

People don't realize that these 'radar readings' are a lot more random than they think. The same exact pitch can end up reading 82 MPH or 95 MPH.

And we wonder why pitchers have so many season long injuries requiring surgery.... often, multiple times in their careers. We worship the radar gun and too often, young pitchers pay for it.

@@treadathletics how thow? Energy is up testosterone is up blood flow is up joints muscles and ligaments are gonna be better since a deep sleep. That ultimately depends on the person if they are a morning person or not there’s a reason why people who go to work everyday working physical jobs get more done in the morning then later afternoon even with weightlifting ur gonna be stronger in the morning so how does this not apply with pitching?
@treadathletics
@treadathletics 7 месяцев назад
All of those things can be dependent on sleep habits, which are not constant for athletes with travel, game times, Spring Training schedules, etc. We discuss it a bit towards the end of this video! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ncYvs0MZRWk.html
