We're okay! The tornado did not take a direct hit into town, more of on the outskirts of Linwood. Thought we weren't the only city effected by this massive tornado, it's going to take long while to cleanup and rebuild from this. This tornado happened to take nearly the same path as the 2003 EF-4 Tornado. That tornado killed 2 people and injured dozens more throughout the Kansas City metro area.
I was in Bonner Springs earlier in the day on the 28th and left there to head west. Drove through Lawrence and encountered a huge storm that caused me to pull over due to hard rain. This must have been that storm and luckily I missed this tornado by a few hours...
I wonder if Federal will come out and inspect their 2001-130 for major pitch problems that did not sound to good sounded like it was struggling to keep a steady pitch
I watched this tornado live via Ryan Pitt's stream and one of the local news stations live streams. My heart litterally dropped when the debris ball formed. And then it dropped even farther when the tornado turned towards Downtown Kansas City. Luckily, the tornado died before it reached Downtown, but the damage had already been done.
Siren should be good to go. Leavenworth County installed several brand new sirens, including the one heard in this video back in 2017 (I believe). That particular siren model has known pitch fluctuation issues. In this case, the tornado likely knocked out power causing the siren to switch over to battery backup (hence the sound change). As far as the storm goes, I'm just glad there weren't a significant number of serious injuries or fatalities. Property be replaced, lives can't. Linwood was very fortunate in that respect.
I've lived in Kansas my whole entire life. This was a scary storm. Not as bad as the Greensburg tornado (was living in Macksville, Ks at the time), but with all of the new technology and video, we all knew that it was coming. Not a damn thing you can do about it but hunker down in the basement.
i live on the edge of basehor and it ALMOST came near me!!! I was literaly able to see it! after the tornado i went to linwood! I WAS SO SAD there was STUFF EVERYWHERE trees destroyed, part of a house taken out! :( it was horrible!
Ok I just figured this out and my uncle confirmed it. We were at the exact location of this supposed inflow. We were working cattle. What appears to be inflow to a tornado was actually a 70 mph wind gustnado. A gustnado is when a down draft rushes down and then sweeps back up at an angle. The actual tornado was to the northeast of this dust storm and not at all in the video.
@@reddeadlycreeper Well, some rotate, some will simulate the effect of rotating by going in and out, but yeah, it's not voltage fluctuations or anything like that XD I don't know why people do that, they make shit up to make themselves sound smarter.
I've seen inflow on these before, but never like that. That was unbelievable. some of the earlier mothership shots when it was rain wrapped were off the hook too. what was nuts was downtown KCKS took forever to turn their sirens on, it was warned in Wyandotte early on, yet nothing down here
That is not a tornado from what I can tell. There is no visible rotation anywhere on ground or in clouds. Only thing is dirt getting kicked up from a microburst or something.
@@jlo2868 speed up the video and watch it spin like a top it was all rain wrapped.. just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there. It was there 100%
@Christina Benson A lot of people think they sound like constant thunder when they're out in the open and not hitting any structures or trees but I think a lot of times they sound like a giant wind tunnel. When they're going through a populated area and there's metal, wood, cement and everything else spinning inside the vortex then yes, they sound just like a freight train clattering down the track.
the inflow at the end was pretty cool but man you gotta learn to pick a better spot, gps, doppler, nothing ? are you that scared ? hahahah and the siren ruined the video for me
