explanation for why the sides of the can don't weaken when the top does: the top and sides are 2 separate pieces of aluminum, they're folded together but there's probably still a layer of oxidation between the folds :)
Love the video! If you pressure cook an empty soda can you can remove the paint much easier. Just add some water to the instapot and pressure cook for about 10 minutes. then you can rub nail polish remover on the can and the paint comes right off. It's perfect for the dissolving experiment.
The plastic coating inside the can is to stop the acid eating the aluminium like the drain cleaner does. Aluminium corrodes really easily so even the low acid levels in canned beverages is enough to eat through them.
You forget: The plastic inside of Coca-Cola bottle need for protection aluminum from soda, because soda is good acid (don't worry about your stomach - the stomach acid stronger). So, you can dissolve the cleaned bottle of Coca-Cola by Coca-Cola.
The cool part about the balancing the coke can on the rim of the glass one; that no one will know how to replicate it if they don’t have the tiny dent part…
