Ankers advertising tells you it will get slower speeds if you don't use the original MagSafe cable. Doesn't have anything to do with using a 60 or 100w cable.
Comes down to the fact that total power output is balanced between the ports, and whether the cables are rated for the power draw. Apple has their MFi rated cables to communicate with Apple devices, so the proper current is transferred. For Android, you'd do just as well if not better for fast charge devices and high watt rated usb c to usb cables.
Bells should have went off at around the 4:31 mark. You were drawing 95w of power when plugged directly into MacBook Pro using only one port. You then plugged 2 more devices in and the total wattage fell to 57w! That make no sense and I had similar results in the 120w 737 model I purchased and tested. Ankers new chargers are seriously flawed. Another thing to note is the usb-a port won't get anywhere near the advertised wattage on any apple products. I confirmed this with them and they said if I had a Huawei phone which is not allowed to be sold in the USA, due to security reasons, I would get what they advertised. LOL. Good to know AFTER the fact. Needless to say, I sent the garbage back and am currently researching what brand to try next.
I just picked up the 735 65W charger and it was a bit concerning to see the total power draw decrease when 2 devices were connected. If that is true, it is a serious design flaw, I may need to get some testing equipment to try it myself
I am currently shopping for this stuff.. I am guessing that you are using the 735 65w that is not the "prime version" so the allotment when charging multiple is pre-defined?
Not a fan of the suction cups. Never thought I would see long adapters that can't hold themselves into the socket and need a weird extra part like that! Anker needs to design some models that have the plugs on the shorter side and let it hang like the 733 power bank!
3:43 could that be the limitation of USB C being 3 Amps at 20 Volts? I read below that you have ALL 5A cables so could that be a limitation of your notebook? that it was perhaps made in a time where USB C was 3A max and thus it is programmed to take no more than 3A over USB C?
733 sounds really good to me. but there is one thing I'm worrying about. Will it constantly trying to charge the power bank to 100％ whipe being used as a wall plug, which damage the battery?
Theoretically not a good practice to have it 100% all the time. But it's not a huge deal. Battery degrade over time anyway. I don't have data to prove how much damage will be done over 3 years. It's hard to tell, right?
I’m worried that the 733 will break the power prongs and keep them inside the wall outlet. It looks pretty heavy and I’d hate to call an electrician to my hotel room to remove them safely
I wonder if this is a limitation from Apple or not, that it doesn't allow charging at maximum speed using type c to type c, even though the charger output is rated at 100W for a single port (Anker 737). I assume your type C cable is rated at 100W, right?
Would love to see how well the suction cup hold will it melted over time?also the cable connected to macbook with the gan charger will it melted?cause the heat huge,i have anker 2in1 anker cable that melted due to the powerbank heat while charging.
I understand your concern. All cables I use can pass-through 100W. I throw away 60W rated cables. As you can see from my tests, using that same cable, 95W is measured.
How many wattage is the wire that is included in the 733 model? I just wonder if its 60w below, il keep it for my macbook air. I have 100w -capable -anker wires. 😊
