I've read a number of David McCullough's books, especially the biographies he has written - Harry Truman, John Adams, Mornings on Horseback (Theodore Roosevelt). I read Isaacson's "The Wise Men" a long time ago and enjoyed it very much - an educational read about strong advisors to Harry Truman. I have a number of his other bios on my kindle. I would add Walter Lord to my list of favourites. He passed away in 2002 but has written a number of history books - one about the Titanic, several about World War 2 (loved those, they were easy to read and taught me things about some things I had never heard about - esp Lonely Vigil which is about coastwatchers on the Solomon Islands during the war. I have read and enjoyed some of Giles Milton's work - again history. I've read some of the works of Tom Holland and want to tackle more of his titles. His brother, James Holland has written extensively on World War 2 and would like to read more of them. I read primarily history and am Canadian, which may explain the varied geography covered in the titles I mention.

Hello! And thank you for sharing your list. I'm only familiar with Giles Milton. I have read his book White Gold. The other authors will most likely interest my son and I will absolutely be sharing your list with him. I have read Giles Milton's White Gold and I see he has a new book coming out! Thank you again for sharing. What a great list you have. 🤗

I definitely want to read more from David McCullough. The one about the Brooklyn Bridge and the Panama Canal.

Have you read McCullough before? If so, which books and which did you like the most? Your comment made me think I should pair his Panama Canal book when I read the Morning on Horseback about Teddy Roosevelt. Thank you for that. 😁

Yes, I read 1776 a few weeks ago. That was my first read by David McCullough. I really enjoy his writing.

Hi, hello and what an exercise! Never really thought about it until now but I actually have a few authors that I've read most, if not all, of their books. Joe Abercrombie - read everything he's ever written. Four different trilogies and a short story book Robert Jordan - read the entire Wheel of Time series Terry Goodkind - read the entire Sword of Truth series, his stand-alones and his latest (final) Richard and Kahlan series Lee Child - every Reacher book and the short stories That was just off the top of my head. After checking my StoryGraph I see that my most read author is JA Konrath with 51 books! lol did not expect that. Stephen King is #2 with 38 read but I am not interested in reading his entire bookography Thank you for the brain exercise this morning and take care! Look forward to seeing the next one

Hi, hello, it doesn't have to be authors you've already read. I added Chernow and haven't completed any of his books. LOL It's fun to think about the authors that we are dedicated to reading their works. Once I complete this list I'll need fo find more. Wow, 51 books is indeed a lot! Hope you have a great week!

Oh I didn't even think about that! I will probably read another Hampton Sides in the future, I'm really enjoying how he put together the story of the Jeannette and I'm sure his other works are just as good

@@holt_arr Thank you for sharing that. I'll add Hampton Sides to my goodreads and keep an eye out for his books. It looks like he's written on quite a few very intersting topics. 👍👍

That book about the Brooklyn Bridge, by McCullough, will be the next one I read by him. I need to get a copy soon. I'm putting Annie Jacobsen books on my TBR list.

Hi Linda, for some reason I thought you had already read the Brooklyn Bridge. I hope you enjoy it. Annie Jacobsen does amazing research and putting the information together without is reading dry and boring. That being said, the information is also scary.

I just bought Walter Isaacson Einstein when I went to McKay’s. What did you not like about the Leonardo book. I have a lot of David McCullough. I have 3 Ron chernow books. I have Washington, grant and Hamilton. You are my favorite booktuber. I also like peg from the history shelf but my reading preferences are like yours. I will check out unger since I am on the hunt for books on Lafayette. I need to do my five favorite authors. I have so many books started. I start one and then I’m like oh I want to read that too so I start it. I currently have 18 that I have started and not finished. It’s nice to know someone else who starts many books at a time. I always looked forward to your videos. That shirt looks really pretty on you my friend.

🤣📚 I have been in your shoes of starting and starting and staring multiple books. I call it book adhd, because I want to read all of the books now. I think you win the award. 🏆 Eighteen is a lot. I used to watch Peg. She has a lot of books. Thank you for the sweet comment. 🤗 That means a lot. I didn't get very far into Leonard da Vinci, so I don't remember why I soft dnf'd it, so I think it might have been I wasn't getting drawn in and I might have been impatient and so I moved on to other books. I think Isaacson did a good job with Einstein. I'm interested to hear what you think of it and Einstein as a man. I buddy read that with another booktuber and we pretty much felt the same, but I think he rated it higher. I'm pretty strict with my ratings. How is your decluttering progressing? I managed a few more items out of my closet and possibly two more pairs of shoes.

@@BookZealots book adhd I love it. That’s definitely me. I want to read them all now plus I get bored really easy and move onto another book. I am going through my pantry right now. I have 2 bedrooms that are full of stuff. My mom passed in 2010 and I still have a lot of her stuff. My dad had 65 jukeboxes and 30000 records and I have albums stacked all over one bedroom. He wanted me to take all of them before he got sick but I have no room for them. I need to get rid of my mom’s clothes but I just can’t do it. She loved her sequined clothes and cute little vests. But I am making myself slowly.
@BookZealots
@BookZealots Месяц назад
all of that would make me so overwhelmed. I cannot tolerate clutter, but I understand there's a process of the grief that needs to happen before or during the motion of going through the items of loved ones. I would keep what has more memories to you than the memories of your parents. That is quite a burden to give a child of 65 jukeboxes and 30k records. I wouldn't expect my children to keep my books. I've unhauled quite a bit and my youngest will keep my private journals and probably my history books. But everything else cold be donated to the nearest thrift stores/shelters, etc. Much success in regaining your home.

I’ve heard people say that Thomas Sowell would easily be considered one of the greatest minds of our time if he had the “correct” political affiliation.
@BookZealots
@BookZealots Месяц назад
😂 I haven't heard that and how very typical of the people who would say that. One, he either does have one of the greatest minds of our time whether they agree with him or not, or he doesn't. Oh my goodness Angie, thank you for sharing that. I have to share it with Prometheus. a quote by Malcom X's comes to mind. I wonder what they think of him?
@angieandthegreatworld
@angieandthegreatworld Месяц назад
@@BookZealots My comment wasn’t very clear. Sorry! 😬 The people I’ve heard say that about Sowell are fans of his. They’re making the observation that Sowell doesn’t get the recognition he rightfully deserves because he’s not a liberal.
@BookZealots
@BookZealots Месяц назад
@@angieandthegreatworld I would agree with that. Sowell doesn't get the recognition he should because so many liberals disagree with him. I'll say the same is true for Jordan Peterson too. I think he started out as a liberal, but because he wouldn't allow them to control his speech he really upset them. I'm not sure, but based on Malcom X's quote, I'm guessing the same thing happened to him. The sad thing is, he got involved in a cult and they eliminated him when he tried leaving. His hatred for whites started to wear off and his cult was not happy.
