Fabric - towels, sheets, clothing - draped over something can also give a cool background. Mottled felt can make good footing (shades of brown or green), and scrapbooking paper comes in a wide variety of sizes, colors and textures. Look in the dollhouse/miniatures section of craft stores for wallpaper - the designs are usually more in scale and it's less expensive than "human sized" wallpaper. Also things like fairy garden accessories - rocks, plants, walls, archways. Faux plants from the floral section. Foam sheeting used in packing can give an icy feel.
Big sheets of thin card (plain white or coloured) can make great seamless backdrops for toys. Used metal baking trays have a great mottled texture for backgrounds. Celeriac root makes amazing-looking weird alien plants. Mirrors or mirror tiles part- covered with sand or flour look like swamp environments. Long twists of tissue paper twirled between the fingers during a long exposure look like columns of smoke. Miniature fairy lights dragged through a scene during a long exposure look like bolts of electricity.
This is one thing I struggle the most with. I have 2 dios I got from extreme sets and I pretty much wore them out already with different ideas I have the same building you have, and I have set it up so many different ways. It does get discouraging when you're wanting to set up a scene and you don't have the right background to tell the story. You had some good ideas though. I'll have to try just using a black backdrop, it sucks though if you don't have the props to fill the scene. Another good video idea brother keep up the good work!
That's cool you have some Extreme Sets, but yeah, that's another thing is using them too much haha. And yeah, props can be another struggle to figure out as well. Hope you can think of some creative ideas to experiment with!
Yeah, I can relate. It’s only recently that I kind of started liking it and more so for video. But I can see how people like it and it’s growing on me. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Nice 👍🏾 and excellent ideas! But alert everyone that once you make your diorama you need to make a space to storage all the things you look and see that you can use it later for something 😂😂
lol it’s something that must be discovered on their own 😂 but yeah, I guess that’s a negative with making your own. I’m trying to be more efficient about that
i am wondering how all these background will look in few seconds stop motion video, that would be cool, something like creating just "signature moves" of all the characters.
