I still wear Vibram from time to time. I find it weird that we label a shoe that actually mimics human foot anatomy as ugly.

Xero sunrize are one of the best barefoot slippers . They are so useful when you have cold floors but it is already too warm for wool slippers. My husband love them. They are comfortable breathable very light and what’s really important they are easy to take on and off. Actually it kind of strange to choose home sleepers by how they look not how useful they are

I Immediately laughed my ass off when you mentioned Vibram. I happen to own one pair currently - it is my first ever barefoot shoe, and right now they are my least used pair in my footwear lineup 😂. I mainly just use them when I go to the grocery store. Hell no I’d never use them for first dates 💀

I love VFFs, they are comfortable and I don't mind looking different. I actually find them pretty cool. What I was really disappointed with are Merrel's Vapor Glove. They were so comfortable but they wore out after 4-5 months! and I rebought them twice, it kept happening. So no, I will never buy them again.

I agree, which is why the VFFs also feature in the 5 barefoot shoes I love video 😆. Sucks about your VG experience though, my pair are still wearing well BUT I’m also a massive Primus lite fanboy so they probably don’t get as much wear as yours did. Was there one specific part that broke down or was it just a total failure?

xero fanboy here. i love my xeros, but they often miss the mark in aesthetics. i had to explore outside of xero for an oxford style shoe and carets really knocked it out of the park with theirs. really my only complaint is that the company kind of encourages you to baby them way more than necessary. sure, if you want them to look brand new forever, i guess maybe you'd have to, but i've had mine for 3 or 4 years and they have held up great. i don't hike in them, but i wear them every single day as a physical therapist. the company had me thinking if i walked across a snowy and salted parking lot a few times, the shoes would be fucked. that has definitely not been the case. they have held up way better than the rockports i used to wear (granted the carets also cost about 3x as much as the rockports did).

Hi, thanks for your videos, I discovered your channel yesterday and I am now looking to purchase a pair of Primus trail III all weather FG for me and Primus trail II FG for my partner. We live in Squamish BC and are training for a ultra mountain trail run, I’ve had constant issues with flat foot, Achilles and bunion issues. I now have a pair of over priced nike zoomx and significant orthotics. I am excited to make the switch and being the vivobarefoot journey. Thanks for all of your advice. Do you have a discount code I can use? Concerned about shipping costs to canada. Many thanks

Hey Steve, Sounds like you and your partner live quite the life, awesome dude. The channel code is GT10, appreciate you using it! The vivos are going to be a huge change from the orthotic’d zoom’s, particularly with your injury list. Just make sure you take the transition at a steady pace and don’t try ripping straight from one to the next. I’ve got a transition guide you can access in the bio of this video, equally feel free to send me a message if you want a hand.

Hi Clem. I totally agree about the Vivo Novus, it's super annoying that Vivo put their excellent Michelin sole on a weird city shoe hybrid but continue to not put it on the Primus Trail which would make infinitely more sense and a huge amount more profit for them so really weird and baffling they don't want to do that. Maybe they'll surprise us one day and actually make the shoe we all want. I disagree about Vibram Fivefingers though, having the toes separate makes them the closest to being barefoot, I made the transition several years ago to not giving a single f*ck what anybody thinks about me, I'd much prefer to do what I think is right as opposed to what other people think is normal. I also own the Freet Stride, I like Tabi shoes and was thinking of buying the Marugo Hitoe but it's far too expensive. Tabi shoes give the big toe separation without needing to faff with each toe in an individual pocket so less faffy, however you still need toe socks or tabi socks. From a functional point of view I'm a little bit surprised that you dismiss the idea of toe separation, there's plenty of research proving the benefit, a bit less research for the benefit of tabi shoes but there are definitely some advantages in certain situations. I'm glad that Freet make them as pretty much nobody anybody else is in the UK and the imported ones such as the one I mentioned above is crazy expensive.
@TheBarefootStrengthProject
@TheBarefootStrengthProject Год назад
👋🏽, definitely with you on the Novus, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time till they roll them out on the Primus Trails (the sooner the better IMO!). And that’s completely fair, it’s how I started out as well. 100% focus on performance, 0% on aesthetic and it’s only as I’ve gotten older and more capable that’s changed. Fortunately that just so happens to coincide with a greater number of shoe options but, if they’re the gateway drug the industry needs then I’m all for them! Also to clarify I don’t disagree with the idea of toe separation at all, there’s plenty of research out there supporting it but relative to ordinary shoes, I think well fitting barefoot shoes that have an adequate toe box (allowing side to side AND up and down movement) provide the same results when factoring in the material friction/stiffness of, for example, the 5 fingers. I haven’t found any research comparing the 2 directly (toe box vs. 5 finger) so my opinion is just anecdotal but enjoy being able to back and forward on it!

Vibrams were my first barefoot shoe as well, got them back in the day when i was 19 and liked the flexibility they gave but they rubbed and ended up smelling terrible so i soon stopped wearing them. I fully agree the only issue I got in returned because of the way it was was a Videos trail Primus trail no firm ground he was Harry and doesn’t even make sense to me how a barefoot shoe company so heavy and I do most of my trail running actually in Sandals so that looks kind of weird too so you don’t have too many people to see you I guess. My top three shoes I dislike: 1. SPLAY - they're cheaply made and they look like a clown shoe. 2. Bearfoot Ursus - They're made out of Suede material(a pain to clean) and they catch bad odor. 3. Vivobarefoot Primus Lite 3 - They provide whole sizes (I'm a size 42) it looks too big on me and yet I checked the sizing chart.

I used to work and wear women’s closed shoes with 1-2 inch heels, a standard in the industry. Before that, wore school shoes from age 4 to the end of high school. 8 years ago i left the workplace. We live in the tropics so I have been wearing only flipflops at home . Am home 5-6 days a week, work from home as industry practice, from pandemic onward, the office as shrunk but meet once or twice a month). On both feet, second to last toe is still touching the middle toe but no long crunched with the toe under the middle one. The damage of that many years cannot be undone quickly. In my neck of the woods barefoot shoes are not easily available.

You’re being disingenuous with the clip of the person trying to put on Vibram Five Finger shoes. That’s the worst possible way of trying to put them on. And why would anyone give a s#*t about how they look as long as the barefoot style shoe they wear is of benefit to them.
@TheBarefootStrengthProject
@TheBarefootStrengthProject Год назад
Type ‘How to put on vibram 5 fingers’ into RU-vid, it’s literally the first video that comes up (channel: Kalclash Fitness) and he’s doing it to demo how easy they ‘can’ go on. It would be disingenuous of me to suggest they’re as easy to put on as normal shoes. And re: aesthetics, I get it. I wore them for ages, they’re the first barefoot shoes I owned and I didn’t give a toss what anyone thought. But now I’m older, I appreciate good aesthetics and vibram isn’t that in my opinion. Fortunately aesthetics are subjective (ref: any art museum) so what I like may not be what you like and vice versa which is totally cool. The world would be a boring place if everyone agreed all the time 😆. Big love, C/C
@andyanderson5332
@andyanderson5332 Год назад
Thanks for the response. Maybe it’s just me personally. But I tend to do a lot more research on important subjects, like which footwear to purchase, than the first video that pops up on RU-vid. Showing a clip of someone putting on a VFF show with the heel folded forward would have been a better option in my opinion. There’s RU-vid videos of that. Anyway..hate is a strong word to describe a pair of shoes that’s possibly contributed to many people recovering from horrible foot issues caused by restrictive footwear. But each man to their own. Good luck with everything. Peace.

@marcb1289
@marcb1289 10 месяцев назад
I don't agree about VFF, but these shoes may not suit every feet: It is problematic to get the correct size (not too wide, but too tight is a real concern), and it is preferable to choose beforehand whether you will be wearing socks with your VVF: you may have to go up one size, and in y opinion, some models, like KSO EVO, are too narrow to allow use of socks. And yes, without socks, these shoes needs regular airing and washing. Fingers socks are always a pain in the a*s to put on the first times, but they tend to take shape and become far more easy to slip on. And these socks are very good in non fingers shoes too, in order to avoid toe injury; or as undersocks, under regular socks, to avoid blisters or cold (by example with Injinji made of wool). But I don't like trail VVF (or whatever VVF used off road) because I always get stuff stuck between toes. Quite agree about the Addis Oxford, mainly because I prefer the Ra and the Gobi for everyday shoes (and I don't like the sole of the addis and the way it goes up at the heel); current fashion urges to have sharp dress shoes, but it has not always been the case; look at very classical Church's derby, which are rather round. And totally agree about the Novus (I guess that Vivo tried to aim at a younger and fashion slave target). And about the Fritz, I think it is to look like the bad ones (the Romulians in the huge black vessel) in the Star Trek movie (2009); look at their shoes... A spefic model and color that I will never buy: Tracker Decon FG2 Mens in obsidian... Why that aditional light brown sole colour ??? That make these shoes look as if you have walked in a shit...

I still see people getting introduced to barefoot with Vibram and you can tell they think what the fuck are those 🤣and will never take a barefoot shoe seriously after that. I love Vivos too but when I saw them come out with the Novus I immediately thought what a weird shape, trying to combine street wear with a hiking sole just a terrible design, I can't think of a worse way for them to waste a great Michelen sole in a design. Some shoes I really detest the sight of are the Belenka Trailwalker, Vivo Gobi III Mens & Vivo's Primus Trail II All Weather FG awful looking shoes. The latter I've handled in person they offer zero support and the upper is like wrapping your foot in a reusable shopping bag with a block of rubber on the bottom of it.
