In Java, data types are used to classify and categorize the different types of values that can be stored in variables. Java provides two categories of data types:
Primitive Data Types: These are the fundamental data types in Java and represent single values. They are also known as built-in data types. Java has eight primitive data types:
byte: A1-byte integer data type.
short: A 2-byte integer data type.
int: A 4-byte integer data type.
long: An 8-byte integer data type.
float: A 4-byte floating-point data type for decimal numbers.
double: An 8-byte floating-point data type for decimal numbers.
char: A 2-byte character data type.
boolean: A data type representing true or false values.
