I wasted FAR too much time wanting a Birkin for so foolishly long that I feel that if I got one now it would be like showing up to a dinner party after dessert’s been cleared away. Maybe I just get brandy and a cigar now. I’m satisfied with the Kelly 35 Éclat fixer-upper I got last year (I fixed the water spots/stains and scratches myself because I knew what to do 🤫). I don’t see this Éclat often so I like it for that.
@@seabreeze4559 First the disclaimer: I have to say that I’m not recommending for anyone to try this. I was feeling lucky and decided to take a gamble. Always, it’s better to let the Hermès experts handle repairs. First I took each water spot area and rolled the leather around in my hands in various directions (this was a Togo so this probably isn’t going to work on stiffer leathers or small items like SLGs). When leather gets wet it dries with the fibers laying in a different pattern, now creating the appearance of uneven color. You have to break up the fibers again and get them to lay correctly. This lightened up the dark spots. Then I buffed it out with a reputable leather lotion that’s often excellent for bringing the color back out and evening out what was left of the spots (I’m trepidatious about plugging the name here. I later tried the lotion on a very faded SLG but it didn’t work. A little disappointed but for me it was worth a shot). G if you want to delete this I don’t blame you.
There is a gender difference when it comes to the use of a belt. Women use it for styling, not to hold up our clothing bottoms. Women use belts to have a cinched in look for dresses and jackets. Men, on the other hand, definitely need it for functionality.
I’m a woman and I need belts that function as a belt. If you have hips that are a lot wider than your waist, jeans sometimes gape at the waistband so you tend to have to use a belt to fix it. Hence I’d never buy the kelly belt as I wouldn’t get enough wear out of it
I agree with you. I feel like gold color in general is becoming the new classic LV monogram a few years ago. It'll always be "classic" and around, but losing the wow factor it once allured.
They’re all over done only on social media not really in real life. I just put things away for awhile and then next thing you know you’ll have some vintage items😉
I think a large portion of your burn out of these items is the overexposure on social media. I don’t see them in my day to day life at all! I’m more burnt out on the classic gold on gold, it’s a bit overrated to me. I’m going to cling to my Kelly belt though! Mine stays just fine! But maybe because I’ve only had it a yr. The bouncing sneakers are terrible though, I agree!
Hi G! ❤Its totally normal to have another feeling toward an item. You are right we change and we have new perspectives. So its ok to let go an object that doesnt serve our lifestyle/taste anymore. I had the same with Chanel trendy (bought mine 10 years ago, they were so everywhere I got sick of it and sold it in 2021). Its ok😅❤
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, always love that about your channel! I agree, for Hermes prices there are many other beautiful and more unique pieces to choose from. Also completely agree on the sterling silver- even Tiffany pieces which cost only hundreds of dollars compared to Hermes, are pricey considering the tarnishing that will happen no matter what and the polishing needed to maintain them
I totally agree with you on your take on the bounce sneakers and the Oran sandals I don’t understand the hype. I much rather the Chypre. I have a question regarding stock in Newyork since your previously was a Madison Ave customer. They seem to to want to offer quota bags to the customers for the Christmas holidays. When do the boutiques usually restock after the holiday in your opinion?
Love the video and your honest take about Hermes. I owned a Hermes belt but not the Kelly belt and have very enjoying wearing it. I feel other designer belt price is also insanely high and I tend to select the brand I personally more resignate with. The other item you didn’t mention is the women’s Hermes slippers, I cannot see another pair of them on social media and feel that’s absolutely overpriced. Love your content and your calming tone 💕
I agree with the Kelly belt, I have one that I will continue to use, but I will definitely don’t add more. I don’t like how it always loosen up. I won’t buy any more twillies or any kind of bag charm. I had my time with them! I agree with the Oz mules and the Kelly lock. I don’t like anything with the Kelly lock on shoes anymore. It scratches, get loose, I’m done with it! I’m also tired of gold in general, not just the Kelly. And I’m saying it owning 2 bags in gold! I’m more into special or seasonal colors now. That being said, I still think it’s because of social medias! In real life, no way we would get tired of it. I live in a place where people wear designers and I really can’t say that I see Kelly’s and Birkins everywhere on the street. It’s just the reality that social medias are killing it a bit. It’s sad when we think that these bags are so pricey and hard to get.
I'm curious to know which durable leathers in your opinion would suit a Black Sellier Kelly 25 in with gold hardware. I know Epsom is a popular choice, but I'd love to know what other leathers you're keen on!
My heart is broken. I love gold in a K25, as well as B25 and C18. Gold is the perfect brown at Hermes. Sesame & Biscuit are in the same brown family but just not that pretty IMO. Maybe less competition for gold if others have the same sentiments as you? lol
Hello GPS, how are you? A mark just below the flap that coincides with the height of the insert caught my attention. Would you recommend a more flexible insert like the felt ones from Jenny Krafts? Also, do you know why 7RP doesn't make inserts for mini kelly? Love your videos! Tks
The lines are actually the result of overpacking the bag early on, and the corner of the front pockets leaving a slight imprint, which I only noticed as I was editing the video 🫣 The 7RP insert is actually a little shorter so it doesn't block access to the pockets. I really enjoy Jenny Krafts inserts too, but I mainly use them in Sellier bags..as they provide virtually no support 🤍
I think I have none except for a Kelly 28 which I purchased only bc my daughter loved it. It’s a special edition. Actually, I am over most luxury items with all the crime and theft going on in LA!
I agree the Kelly belt does slip a lot, but it pulls a look together so beautifully I can forgive it 😊 I can’t agree with your feelings on the K25 gold with PHW. I think it’s a beautiful bag. I don’t see so many people carrying it that it feels played out to me, but I avoid IG as much as I can. I agree with you on the bouncing sneakers, they are frumpy in my opinion. I think that tiny shrunken down bags like the B25 are going to look very dated soon
I'm not sure why Hermès can't design belts well. I have the older Constance belt with two holes and prongs, and it is SO awkwardly designed that I rarely wore it. BTW, there are a gazillion Kelly Belt knock offs out there. No H logo Hermès lounge pieces or sneakers for me. Cucinelli and Loro Piana do clothing and sneaks WAY better. G, it's not the bag. It's Hermès overload.
Hermes ofer me Birkin 30 gold with palladium hardware and also black with palladium hardware I turn it down. I know that the gold hardware keep the value better So am wait. As of now not sure I want it any more perhaps may be for investment , I got white gold bangle and ring set. Which love ❤️ u are right buy what I like not what they told u to get it thanks for sharing 😊
I truly understand how you feel about the K25 gold with palladium HW because I thought the same and didn't understand why it was so hyped about 😅. until I got it a couple of months ago as a Xmas present and now it's one of my top favorite in my H collection 🤎.
