Your editing cracks me up in a good way. So simple but it does the job. I’ve been watching many of your videos every night for the past week. Learning a ton from you. I really appreciate that you go through the steps but also The whole growing season too. Keep the vids coming!
I love how you are putting to use plastic materials. I think I will mention this to our Green Team at work to show people how they can put some of their plastic garbage to good use, rather than throwing it in the recycling bin for "recycling".
Wow, cotton balls ftw! It's good to have options for planting mediums. I have a basil growing too tall for my little setup. I've pinched the top in hopes of forcing some branching. We'll see... I love the sprouting technique. This saves a wasted container - I have a type of lettuce that has had extremely poor germination rates that is taking up a "grown up" container. (I grabbed that seed packet by accident.) I actually got one sprout those time so that's a first with that variety. It'll be interesting to see if it was worth all of the trouble. 😂 I'll definitely avoid that one in the future!
Just watching this evening and happen to put some Basil to germinate this morning, first time. A friend gave me hemp grow mats so I thought I’d give that a try. Hoping to get some Basil.
I am going to start an indoors hydroponic garden because of your videos! you make it look so easy and fun. I think it's a great hobby to wait out the pandemic. my seeds will come tomorrow. thank you so much for making these wonderful videos my favorites are those that show the progression (like this one)
I so enjoy your videos and knowledge. I have learned so much from you. You teach well, speak clearly and give us great info! I only have two hydroponic systems, an aero garden harvest and a 12 pod moistenland. Both are doing great. If I decide to branch out, you will be my guide! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks for the great video, Tikki! Do you find that the algae cotton balls negatively impact your Folgers kratky set-up? Or does the algae die off from lack of light exposure?
The algae didn't seem to matter, its just not so nice looking. I covered up the cotton balls with the hydroponic pebbles, so the algae is probably dead. The water is clean and the roots are all nice and white. I should have shown the roots on the video..my bad....thanks for the question!
Great video Tikki O. Very informative. Did you do a review on the hydroponics tower and I missed it? If no, please do and let me know if you like it. Thanks.
Hi Rocky, I am not finished setting it up, I started the seedlings, but they are not ready yet to go into the tower. I am documenting everything with my trusty camera, so it will be in a future video or two. You didn't miss it...thanks for the question!
Hi Alexandra, the rockwool costs more, but I like the size and shape better than the smaller cotton ball. The rockwool is easier to move around than the flimsy cotton ball. I get good results with both, so its a toss up. Thanks for the question!
@@TikkiOOO I was thinking full grown plants. Watercress is done hydroponically I think and it’s so great to be able to have some fresh for eating or juicing as it’s very hard to find in stores and if you do, it never fresh since once it’s removed from nutrients it’s very perishable.
I am over 70 yrs of age and just now getting into Hydroponics. So far have ran into one issues, that is after one mixing up the MASTERBLEND 4-18-38 Complete Combo Kit Fertilize, lets say for 5 gallons. Wait, my container has only up to a 3 gallons in capacity, with three 3-inch & three 2-inch holes in it, a kind of long container & it has an air stone in it, bubbling away, and wrap to keep the sun out. So the question is this, 1) Do I have to throw out the current water in the container and then add back in the solution of Masterblend & water? 2) Do I just add in the some of the Masterblend solution? 3) If of to add part of the Masterblend solution, just how much & how often? Currently sprouting Basil and Lettuce, the sprouting seedlings are 5 days old right now. Hope you can be of some help. Thanks, The Old Person.
What lights do you use for indoor growing. I have no suitable windows. I bought a blue/red light that I am not getting good results with. Are LED best? What combination of white/blue/red lights are best.
Hi Animal Time, its a hydroponic vertical growing tower, to grow vertically. I will be making a video on it in the coming weeks, so you will get to see it. Thanks for the question!
I noticed faster growth running the lights at about 12 on/12 off just for the first week or two _after_ sprouting... then kicking it up to 16-18 after that. #addictedtopesto
Forgive me Tikki for I have sinned. It is some time since I watched one of your videos. :-) I've missed you. I love Basil also and this seems something to try.
Interesting, are you growing indoors? Those bugs are usually in soil, not hydroponics. Maybe someone here has a suggestion. I would try neem oil on the plant to see if it helps. Sorry to hear that!
I used to when I first started out, the Ph is usually around 6.0-6.3 after I add the nutrients. I use reverse osmosis filtered water. Now I don't Ph test anymore unless I am having a problem growing something and I don't know why, but my water source is pretty stable. Thanks for the question Andres!
