I really love that you went out of your way to show how the mic works and did a variety of tests for them. So many videos do not test the microphones. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!
Here’s my challenge: when I use headsets (I have the fanciest one from yealink right now over both ears), I can’t hear mySELF talking. So it’s like speaking deaf. I heart the other person great in the headset but I get no sound feedback when I’m talking. Imagine covering your ears w your hands and trying to have a conversation. It makes me speak to loud to the other person because I don’t hear myself loud and clear when I respond. Do any of these headsets mitigate this so you can hear both the other person and yourself talk?
i've had bad experiences with bluetooth devices. for some reasons, my colleagues could hardly hear me like randomly on teams. it doesn't happen when im using my usb headphone. i have like 5 bluetooth devices and they're all the same.
If connecting to a computer when having this bad experience, we'd highly recommend purchasing a headset that includes a proprietary USB Dongle like the Evolve2 75 UC, rather than connecting to the computer via Bluetooth and you may have a much different experience.
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated! Fortunately for you there are tons of great wired options to choose from such as the Jabra Evolve2 40, Jabra Engage 50, and the Poly Blackwire 8225. View those videos in the links below. Curious to hear your thoughts! I've been using the Focus UC (the original one) for about 4 years now. It has finally kicked the bucket and started falling apart. So 4 years of daily use is pretty darn good. I will say that this thing has outstanding mic noise cancellation and folks on my meetings at work have never heard my 4 kids screaming even when they are in the same room as me. Recently my newborn was crying while I was holding him and no one heard him while I was trying to talk. The problem with Poly (formerly Plantronics) is they are horrible at bug fixing, at least from my experience. About 3 years ago they released a firmware update that essentially made the audible 'Mute On' voice become stuck and call out every time you mute. You can flip this off in the settings to just a tone, but the setting changes do nothing.. Despite countless complaints on forums, they have never fixed it. This is just one example so I am very tempted to give Jabra a shot.
I had a terrible experience with my Jabra Evolve2 85. Specifically, the boom mic started to work erratically after a year of use. I made sure to update it with the latest firmware but did not resolve the issue. I did my research and found out that this is a common issue as well.
The sound test would have been better if you had background conversations. Also you need to play the background noise uncancelled to form a baseline. Close to being a good video. Nice watch.
not gonna lie, they all kind of suck. A dynamic mic right on the lips is the best in a noisy and windy environment. can't beat the audio-technica BPHS2 or a proper bose aviation headset.
In comparison to a dynamic mic, can't disagree but it's really not a fair comparison. It really depends on your exact needs as to which is the best way to go. There's nuances to consider aside from microphone quality like wearing style, compatibility, connectivity etc.. but in general for work calls/meetings most customers we talk to say the microphone quality of any headset on this list is fine.
Seems like yealink is the best.. the quiet test sounds like underwater, but the blender test, you wouldn't hear the blender at all compare to others. Jabra has nice quiet test, but not blender or fan test
I have the Yealink portable version. I thought the voice sounded the most natural in the Yealink & I own both Poly & Logitech Bluetooth headsets. So far I have not had a customer tell me that it sounded like I was under water like they did on my 2 Bluetooth headsets .The Yealink feels cheaper but for me it’s all about signal reliability & the DECT 6.0 has shown that it doesn’t interfere with my wifi & Bluetooth music devices I play while working in a very fast paced, high dial, work from home position
Thank you for such a brief summary. Way better than tons of long reviews of each device separately. It saved me a lot of time. You explained how dedicated buttons work (like MS Teams button). It was unclear from manufacturers sites :) and also sound test showed that unfortunately every brand sounds artificially. So I will try something like Rode Wireless Go 2. It would be great to hear your studio recording mic against blender as a reference.
You're welcome! The reason you will hear some artificial sound is because when there's a noise canceling microphone it's using technology to try and reduce the background noise. So, there's a sacrifice that has to be made vs a microphone like Rode from a voice quality standpoint will be a better way to go if noise in your environment isn't an issue and you're looking for the best mic sound.
Any opinion on a headset that will pick up less noise that my customers hear? My office is full of loud people, I am looking for a headset mic that is less likely to pick up ambient noise, just my voice. Tried the poly Voyager focus 2, but it doesn’t work as well as I expected. The noise canceling is much worse than my AirPod pros, and the mic doesn’t seem to have much difference when it comes to picking up the voices of my coworkers
I still cannot decide.. My biggest noise problem is not coming from blender or fan.. it is actually from my kids playing some cartoon on TV with a little too high volume.. 😔 but thanks for the video..
Thanks for watching. The microphone tests we provide are a benchmark to give you an idea which cancels noise best. Neither option will block 100% of background noise, but whichever you feel in this video reduced the background noise the most is your best bet.
Hi , I have three small dogs barking downstairs , what headset willblock them so my caller wont hear them and can be used on teams ETC. without software installtion cause my company is strict
It sounds like we didn't setup the proper context. Being that each of these headsets have noise cancelling in the microphones, you won't get as good of mic quality in comparison to a ModMic for example. Most people who work from home, in the office or on the go will usually have different needs from those who would get a ModMic. When you work at home, in the office etc.. it's crucial in many cases to have mic noise cancellation to reduce the background noise callers would otherwise hear. That comes at a cost of sacrificing some mic quality, but for business calls/meetings will be acceptable for most.
Hi i'm from Pakistan and tomorrow is gonna be my first day in call center and i have buy a headset name "Stereo headset HS-19" what yours thoughts on it plz reply i'm waiting❤
Hi Laiba, we haven't tested this headaset so we're unable to comment on our thoughts. Let us know what you think when you try it and for any reason it doesn't work for your needs, there's other good quality options to consider.
I am looking for a bluetooth over the ear headset (both ears) with a boom mic where I can hear myself in the headphones. I don't need them to for cpu use only on an iphone. I find that several will not let me hear my voice unless I plug into cpu and adjust talkback settings. Any recommendations? Thanks
hi Headset Advisor. i live in a farm and friends complain about cock crowing, esp when they do a cacophony of noises, all 50 of them. friends are getting headaches! can you recommend a headphone that can reduce if not cancel these sounds? thanks!
WOAH that's a lot of chickens! I'm not sure any headsets will be able to fully block that out. That being said, which devices would you be connecting a headset to? We may have something in mind.
Why is the OG Jabra Evolve mic so much better blocking out background noise? And what’s the best headset in your opinion to use in a Telemarketing company? (To block out noice). Do you know if the mic blocks out more noice on the Engage 75 or Evolve2 75 series? Thanks :)
That's a tough question to answer as everyone seems to have a different perspective on which model cancels most background noise. If you're needing connectivity to mobile phone + computer or just one of these devices, then from our testing the Tilde Pro or Evolve2 75 UC would be the way to go.
Hey there im looking for the best headset for anc that the voice is natural hearing. Bluetooth and usb c is good. 3.5mm jack is a bonus. 200-300$ cad budget.
Hi Jeremy, with what you're looking for at this price point, to get ANC you'll need to up your budget. The 5 headsets in this video would be what we recommend. If you can up your budget to around 500-600$ cad, go with the Orosound Tilde Pro, Evolve2 75 or Evolve2 85.
I bought a Poly Voyager Focus 2 UC after I watched your review. Now I regret buying because after a year of use, I am getting complaints that my voice is garbled when I am in the train (Hong Kong MTR trains are high speed underground rail)
Definitely. All these headsets will do the best job possible to reduce the noise of co-workers talking next to you but none will be perfect at fully blocking out that noise.
Hello, can i ask you a question? I search good headset for videocalls. But my wish is, the headset must be in the white color. Then my complete setup is in white and when i found a good headset in this color is nice. You have some idea?
It doesn’t pick up every sound but headset noise cancellation is limited to the processing power of the headset so it won’t cancel everything out. We are working on a software solution that could solve this. Make sure your subscribed for future updates soon.
We haven’t tested these with Dragon, but they all should work fine. The Orosound tilde pro will probably do best though as it has the best sounding mic of the 5. We’re going to do a video one day on headsets for Dragon.
Hi, pls suggest me something that is for on the go, working from home or office use which should be best for telemarketing calling. One ear and should consist a very good noise cancelation option as well as good sound quality and soft to the ear. Thanks In advance!
@@blackhawkX02 they prioritize mic noise cancellation so you sacrifice a bit of pure mic quality for benefit of being heard clearly in noisy environments.
Not fair to EPOS adapt 660-- boom less. Why not use the EPOS SDW with boom mic that was also shown in the table. then set to super wideband audio in the settings. Some might say, it's DECT. then so too is yealink:) I believe EPOS SDW 50xx paired with the base (not the dongle) is still one of the natural and best sounding wireless uc headset.
The EPOS was not fairly compared. You used their Bluetooth headset without a boom mic. 😢 Sennheiser usually is known for high quality sound both speaker and microphone. And they were SABOTAGED 😡
That was a popular model viewers wanted us to compare. Guess there’s a difference between a mic boom and not after all 🤷♂️ but definitely not sabotaged
Hmmm iphone only? You can shop our top headsets here but they are more for computer and iPhone headsetadvisor.com/collections/best-selling-headsets-for-work you should checkout Yealink bh71 or Shokz opencomm2
Unfortunately not that we're aware of. Any Bluetooth or DECT headsets emit radiation, but from what we're awre of the amount is so low and not considered harmful (significantly less than cell phones). A wired headset like the Discover D722u would be the only option we can think of if you want to fully avoid any radiation.
what are those prices? LOL these headsets better translate to and from a different language in the voice of the person speaking with no delay and remind me when I forget to close the refrigerator door.
@@HeadsetAdvisor I think he meant that you could simulate an environment where people are talking, by playing canned voice audio from speakers in the test room. it wouldn't be fair to use real people talking because they would act differently during every recording. by using canned audio you can make the test fair.
@@forasago Ah got it. On any of our newer videos we now have that mic test on a speaker with a number of common noises like co-workers talking, dogs barking, babies crying, and the famous blender test 😄
@@HeadsetAdvisor How about with pets? the ones with dogs our dogs outside? Maybe include a voice of a barking dog? or neighbors who party outside/ or put their karaoke on
Great Video! Yealink had the best noise cancellation. Jabra will work best for my job. What are your thoughts about Plantronics C2500 or EncorePro Hw525 headsets?
my jabra evolve 75 broke after 2.5 years of use. They are nice and comfortable, but one day the mic stopped working, now the whole headset doesn't work.
Orosound Tilde Pro or the new Orosound Evo (coming soon). Otherwise, you can consider neep.com noise canceling software which will do as good as possible.
All of these headsets have a digital effect - a narrow audio spectrum - compared to microphones used for podcasting. Is there any headset with a high-quality microphone that could be used for podcasting and when great audio is needed? As background, I currently use a podcasting microphone for remote court hearings because I have not found a headset with a comparable high-quality microphone.
Hey Aaron, most business headsets won’t give you as good of quality as a podcast type microphone because they add noise canceling technology. This is good because it helps reduce background noise in louder working environments, but on the flip side it sacrifices on voice quality in comparison to a podcast type microphone. The best sounding microphone we’ve tested so far is on the Tilde Pro. We’re also dropping a new video soon of a microphone you can attach to any headphones and sounds like it could be a good fit for you.
Great video. We have Poly and are looking at Jabra with a focus on ambient noise. But seeing as it appears to be the worst at noise cancellation I am reconsidering. We just got a gaming headset which does so much better than our Voyager but looks like a gaming headset. Such a shame that the gaming industry out performs offices (IMHO).
Hi John, thanks for watching! Every headset will have their pros and cons so it all comes down to what’s most important to you. What is it about your current Poly headsets that’s making you look at something else?
@@HeadsetAdvisor It was the noise cancellation. Our office is open and there is a shiny epoxy floor and glass desks. Looks very nice but the acoustics are awful. We ran a test between office and gaming headsets and found a clear winner. But we don't want to look unprofessional. The end result was that we are going to stick with the Poly because we have a bunch already and they are not that awful.
@@johnwilkinson1281 Good choice on keeping the current Poly headsets. Something that may help improve your current headsets is the app here krisp.ai/?ref=headsetadvisor
The Yealink WH62 noise cancelling is unreal, too bad I can't use it with my iPhone. What other suggestions for use with iPhone do you have that has great noise cancelling, please?
It’s hard to say because all models still have their limitations. But the Evolve2 75 we’ve heard has been doing the best. Or take your pick of headset and get Krisp.ai
Will Tilde Pro wired function out of box? Will be using a company-issued laptop, and wont be able to install software. Looking for headset + mic, that can connect both wired and bluetooth. Having problems with bluetooth at times, so would prefer if there’s wired connection as well, for fail-safe
I have found that some headphones are great at canceling background noise but if someone is having a conversation or if they talk to me directly then it doesn’t block that at all. Have you done a test like that where is not background noise but actual person talking to you to see if these headphones block that noise??
The biggest challenge for noise cancellation in microphones is blocking out voices. None will be perfect and some are better than others but no matter which model you get some of the noise is going to get in depending how loud someone is talking near you. The best solution to this we've found is using software like neep.com or the best nosie canceling microphones we've tested so far is the Orosound Tilde Pro (new model called Orosound Evo coming out soon which will be even better), or the Epos Impact 1000 series.
The Orosound ones are over ear? I'm trying to find an over ear solution for my work station. To avoid getting distracted by the noisy environment at work.
Yes all of the headsets on this list are made for business use. The orosound does do very good for music too though (not audiophile quality but good enough for most)
1) I’ve been hearing good things about the Anker H700, what are your thoughts? 2) Considering the price of the EPOS Adapt 660 Bluetooth Headset, how do they compare with the Apple IPod Max?
Hi Alejandro, we’ve seen decent reviews online about the H700 but haven’t heard the same feedback from customers. The Adapt 660 will be a much better headset for calls and meetings then the AirPods max. That being said, the Orosound Tilde Pro out performs both as it has the detachable noise canceling mic boom for the best voice clarity.
I'd stay away from the H700, strong connection but for some reason, the audio drops at a certain point and you have to restart it (Happened twice today already)
Worst sound cancelling test ever - too fast you were talking over the noise - a couple were obvious but talked about 5 companies and I learned nothing.
Well that’s a bummer lol sorry to disappoint was just trying to bring awareness to brands and not specific models. We did a bunch of tests on our blind headset test video maybe this will help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l3LCHz145X8.htmlsi=nX3wvKcHcYUY6x_b
Which model? All models in this video have a noise canceling microphone and are designed to help reduce co-workers around you, but won't 100% block out all the background noise, no matter which model you choose.
Thanks for your opinion. Many customers are using the various models on this list, so for work calls and meetings either choice should be plenty fine for most. That being said, if your reference point is a condenser type microphone or a headset without a noise canceling microphone, you will get a more natural sound but at the cost of callers hearing your background noise. Any noise canceling microphone as of today will come at a slight sacrifice of the best pure voice quality. It all just depends on your exact needs as to which headset is the best way to go.
@@HeadsetAdvisor Thanks. I'm required to wear a wired headset with mic. I'm working on different ways to get it on and with practice it's getting better. Now I'm just interested in a set with more comfortable earpieces.
