Hi Adam, this is a good question. In theory, yes, but here are some reasons why we say no. Manufacturers only test their own equipment, they do not perform testing using other brands. Although there are some Brands that use the same supplier/builder there is no case studies or cross testing performed. If you were to call the manufacturers tech support they would not assist with mixed environment when using other brands in conjunction.
I know some AV over IP products can handle down-scaling 4K sources for legacy displays. Are there any that can also handle converting HDR10 to SDR when doing that downscaling? Which ones can give you a stereo output from the encoder for a multi-zone amp?
Hi Mike, thanks for your questions. The only systems that support HDR are Atlona and WyreStorm. If you're looking for HDR10 downscaling to SDR 1080P without any washing of colors we recommend the Atlona Omnistream Coders. They use VC2 Compression and have stated to us that it will work perfectly thanks to this compression technology vs. other compression's like H.264. In regards to a stereo output from the encoder, Key Digital, Kramer, and WyreStorm support it. The Atlona system supports it as well, but you'll have to purchase an audio bridge for the encoder, audio out is only available from the decoder. We hope this helps! Great video series guys! Learned a lot! We are setting up an AV video switch system that's SDI to HDMI conversion (noticed these brands encoder inputs were only hdmi) with two encoders to 6 decoders in multiple different conferece rooms over a commercial building that's hooked up to an existing network. What devices/brand would you recommend for the simplest control possible. Since non tech savvy personnel will operate moving forward. Thanks in advance! Castland Productions
Hi, thanks for viewing. Yes, these brands are all HDMI only. The biggest concern you will have is regarding the Network switch you are using. When you say you are connecting them to an existing Network, are you planning on using the existing network switch or installing a Manufactures certified switch for AVOIP on its on VLAN? Thanks guys for your professional productions. I was thinking using AV over IP for a new small project at my church and office. First at the church: I want install a confidence monitor on the altar (stage where Pastor preaches). I want this monitor installed somewhere on the floor slightly tilted for comfortable view. So I want to be able to send song lyrics we already have produced vis a software system and projected to a wall screen system. I also want to switch it between an urgent information feed to the monitor. What do I need to achieve this simple setup. Summary: A monitor to display feeds from different computers generating live video of event, song lyrics and special information for the stage users. Thanks
