I found a useful tip from Julien Earle's youtube, for breakbeats which are a little too muddy you can 3 band gate, just put a gate on eacht band and cut some of the background noise. Gives you super clean hits!
I have some tips if you want to make sum money from making breakbeat (im currently in the top 50 breakbeat artist in beatport and a few of my tracks have been top 10), tip 1, keep it simple, labels only will release tracks that they know it will generate profit, they don't like breakcore type drums (you can use the breakcore stuff for fills). Tip 2, check what is currently selling a lot, so you can grab a few ideas. Last tip, labels LOVE tracks that can be danced to, so a good flow on the drop will make people go nuts on gigs. Last thing, if you want to make breakbeat just for fun and creative stuff and not for money, ignore all i said and have fun.
Dude I can mix a break any way but I just can’t seem to source these D&B / Jungle breaks with tambourine that tracks like Passion by Pinkpantheress or Rival Dealer by Burial
are you using a drum machine or a plugin for the drum sounds. If so which one? I'm new to this and I'd like a drum machine plugin for my daw with good realistic sounding drums
Those are sampled loops, man. If you want realistic drums go get the free version of Slate Drums or MT Drumkit. Also Sennheiser used to have a free drum VST. Look it up
