Great video. Thank You for the continued knowledge. I love Bromeliads and wished I had found you long ago. I can across your channel just before the last Hurricane that you featured as a damage update so to speak. I live in zone 4b so I do really well outside with them in the summer, but I gets pretty rough in the winter time. Thanks for making very well thought out videos.

I disagree with 2 an 4 sort of. Personally i find colour is a good indicator of how much light it likes, your pretty safe with sticking with that as a rule. I think where people get confused is high light dosent necessarily mean full sun. It really depends more on the genus your growing an also how long they are geting their light. An 4 the only disagreement i have with that is apart from puya the rest of the bromeliads are epiphytic in my opinion 1. They grow in medium that is closer to what other epiphyties like bromeliad mix is from being considered soil its closer to mulch. 2. Epiphyties can still be found terrestrial but its more growing on the surface of the ground rather then really growing in the ground, similar to how cactus are normally found to what appears to be in the ground but then you find them growing in 1inch of clay after a mudslide on the side of a cliff because they arent in the ground its more inbetween the ground its why you can grow them in just rocks as substrate because cactus arent really burrowing into the substrate its really burrowing around the substrate. Bromeliads are the same in this sense 3. I hate that puyas are bromeliads only because they are so different from the rest. They may be a bromeliad but they definitely dont grow like the rest for multiple reasons

Please show us bromeliads that have spines and stiff leaves that are not sun hardy. Can you point a source that is comprehensive about different species? Even books. My plants would be thankful because otherwise I have to learn by trial and error.

When the vid was put together, it was intended to show the opposite of spines and stiffness rather than the other way around, but your question is a really good one and entirely got by me... I am definitely going to think about that! As to reference books, they are few and far between... and the best resources are others who have discovered traits by trial and error too! Thanks again for watching and commenting!

at the end of your video you are standing in front of a black and white striped plant - is that an "Absolute Zero"? I just purchased one and I would love to get it looking as healthy as yours. Any tips? It's very brittle and leaves arrived very dry.

I just looked towards the end, but the only black and white brom i saw was Aechmea Tortuga, a Chantinii hybrid... just to make sure take another look and let me know the time stamp where you saw it. Thanks so much for watching!
